#Help with buying a New 3DS XL

Hello everyone, for the past week or so I’ve been looking at buying a New Nintendo 3DS XL. Of course, I did my fair bit of research, though I’m still not sure if I have missed something I should know. Anything I should be aware of when buying one? Also, any recommendations from where I can buy one?

Keep in mind that I live in Europe, so I’d be getting a PAL version.

My budget is around $200 to $300 - I’ve found some offerings on Amazon and eBay. They do have some cosmetic flaws, but I don’t really mind that as long as they are moderate. I’m a little concerned with 2 things: a) on Amazon there’s only a description, and there aren’t any photos of the real product - though I believe the item is covered by the A to z Guarantee; b) I’m not really sure if there’s any coverage on eBay - I’ve purchased products from websites like eBay before, and sometimes they did turn out to be faulty, so yeah… I don’t really want to get a $300 3DS that will die on me on the 2th day because of a fault or something

I guess that was everything I’ve to say. Please excuse me if there are any grammatical mistakes - I’ve wrote this message from my Phone

ebay has buyer protection, better than amazon in my experience

#

check photos and seller ratings before purchasing, ask for more clearer photos if you can't adequately judge quality from the existing ones

#

you can find a n3dsxl for $200, don't go for anything close to $300 unless it's special edition or practically unused

Alright, thanks for the answers! After some consideration I do think that getting one from eBay would be a better option. I found a few listings that seem quite good, so I'll be contacting some of the sellers for more info, and to see if they're willing to ship the console to my country - although, it'll probably be kind of expensive.

#

Actually, if I wasn't mistaken 2 of them were from Australia. I believe that Australia is considered to be in the European region(PAL)?

#

Just checked, apparently Australia is indeed in the PAL region(EU/AU).

Quick update: I found a good deal on eBay and I’ll buy it either tomorrow or on Sunday.

Another update: I had found several offers which were decent, but then several new came up and one of them was perfect. Sadly, someone beat me to the punch - both of them were bought literally several hours before I came home, and I didn't even had the chance to get one of them... sigh

it do be like that

#

3ds is in high demand, any decently good deal will be snatched up almost instantly

Yet another update: I just ordered one for a fairly decent price off of eBay!

Now I'm just hopping that the 3DS I ordered will arrive before the eShop closes

#

Although I highly doubt that..

#

Though I was browsing a local website to see if there were any offers for a 3DS - there were 2, but the price wasn’t that different and they were the regular ones. Not to mention that they weren’t even the New edition

#

But I found a guy on there that had listed like 10 DS Lite(s)

#

And he was selling them for like $30 each

#

Not sure if that’s a good price, but yeah

*yes, they seemed in a fairly decent condition

Btw forgot to ask something, so the New 3DS XL I ordered has been reconditioned - the top screen has been replaced. Although there didn't seem to be any loss in resolutions, functions etc. should I be aware of anything else?

#

It's not really a deal-breaker for me

#

as long as it works it's alright

tranquil delta
#

It seems like I won't get an answer... at least I tried.

#

Hmm, supposedly it'll work

Im pretty sure it doesn’t since people repair screens all the time

#

Sucks that it’s coming after the eshop closure tho!

tranquil delta
#

Yeah, I was really hoping I could get one before the eShop closes, but sadly...

#

I doubt it'll arrive on time since it's being shipped internationally. Also, the last time I ordered something internationally it took like a month and half to arrive.

Ah man. Try scouting out some physical games in the mean time before the prices go up

#

Local retro stores and such

#

Even eBay

tranquil delta
#

I'll try to, but there isn't anything interesting locally.

#

Oh, actually not - a few days ago I stumbled upon an offer on one of the local used market websites that's fairly popular in my country.

#

A guy was selling a bunch of DS Lite(s) for like $25 each.

I probably would’ve gotten one

tranquil delta
#

I was actually thinking about getting one, though they're not in the best condition

#

But they doesn't seem that bad

#

And I don't think there's anyone from my country that's like hunting such offers down, collecting them etc.

#

Probably a very few people are doing it

#

Overall, I'm still happy I managed to get a n3dsxl. It's been my dream console for like the past 5/6 years. Several years ago(around the summer of 2017) I really wanted to get one, but for some reason I completely dropped the idea.

I’ve had a n2dsXL but I really wanted a n3dsxl

#

Congratulations for securing yours!

tranquil delta
#

Thanks!! I hope you can get a n3dsxl if you really want one that bad.

#

To be honest for the my purpose which will be mainly playing games it doesn’t really matter if it was a n2dsxl or a n3dsxl

#

I don’t really care about 3D that much - from what I’ve heard it isn’t that great and it drops down the performance & fps quite a bit

#

But yeah, at least I managed to secure one before they went extinct and prices go insane

#

Idk but I kind of got the feeling that their price might go even higher after a while, like several months to a year
