Hey guys, in quite the kerfuffel here. My New 3ds models camera has stopped working to the point as whenever I boot it up it instantly says I need to power off the console and restart. Not to mention the camera is completely back
in the middle of a teardown to see whats up but im very confused.

Have you tried booting with the camera disconnected? I have a 2DS that has some problems, but i can boot it with no camera, and a my friend has a new 3ds that whenever he opens the camera it restarts the system so i suspect it is not working.
the 3ds still works without the camera. Its just an annoyance because if I want to get custom themes and such I have to take the back panel off and download it directly onto the SD card
Oh i see, indeed it is annoying; on my friends 3DS he gets around this by using FTPD on the 3ds and filezilla on his computer, this way he doesnt have to open it everytime.
btw i would just replace the camera, if reseating the connector didnt solve this, the cable is probably ripped somewhere.
i dont even know what ribbon cable the camera connector is
I thought it mightve been the very top right one on the bottom of the 3ds or it was the small ribbon cable right next to it

This is the replacement piece, based on the image it probably is one of the large ones
I actually had my friend ask me if i could do this replacement aswell, and after seeing what it took i think it isnt really worth it
The process seems to be the same as a screen replacement
You have to make a tight roll of the flex cable and pass it trought the hole on the hinge along the screen cable, if you arent careful you could be needing to buy a new screen aswell.
yikes
The connector for the camera is probably under the motherboard
