Please remember to provide as much information as possible including all troubleshooting steps you have already taken. If this is a hardware issue, please provide clear in-focus images of the issue, PCB (circuit board), installation, and any soldering you have done. Help us help you, posts with insufficient information will be deleted
it kind of doesnt melt
obvious stuff first.
did you put solder on the tip of the iron? it helps to transfer the heat to the solder on the board.
not a lot, just enough to cover the tip. you don't want a big glob of it. like a thin coating.
Ill try that, brb
go carefully, don't spend more than a few seconds on the board, or you might start damaging the pads on the board, which are a much, much harder fix.
noted, i think i got it loose. That solved the issue, do i need to put more solder after im done?
a little bit. yes.
if you have flux, put it on the metal points first, then put a little bit of solder on. it will help to make sure it stays on the pad and not move around on to the rest of the board.
So thats what flux does, i dont have it but its good to know
Its working much better now after assembling it
soldering is thermodynamics put into practice.
heat really wants to move from most hot to least hot
matter likes to transfer heat, sometimes really happily, sometimes really lazily.
metals usually are ALL ABOUT the moving heat, because they have lots of matter in a small space.
so putting metal in between the hot and less hot, means the metal will transfer the heat as quickly as it can.
ahh that makes sense
yeah, proper tip + proper temperature + flux = easier soldering
if that came off a bit patronizing, I was volunteering at a school to show some of the kids soldering. I had to explain it to kids that are barely even 8.
only a few hours but man, that was tiring having to kid it down enough for them to understand. I guess I'm still in the mindset.
well Im a beginner so it actually helps! 😂
