#Modded Gameboy Pocket, Won’t Turn On

I modded my first gameboy today, installed a backlit screen in my gameboy color.

I followed the guide exactly, and when I turned on the gameboy, it powered on and the backlit display worked. I forgot to put a game in, so I shut it down, put a game in & then booted it back up.

Upon it trying to load my game, the backlit screen stopped working after a few seconds and the screen got dim (how it would normally look without backlighting) & the “Gameboy” text looked corrupted.

I tried restarting the gameboy after that and now it refuses to power on at all.

I know there’s a little extra solder in the 2nd pic but it’s not touching anything, could that have fried the whole thing?

you need to shorten the exposed wire

#

you will short and pop the fuse again

ok so if i get another gameboy today the screen should still work the board is just fucked? trim the wire and i should be good?

Probably cheaper to get a multimeter and beep things out to see whats actually wrong. If the fuse is popped you can get a new one for a couple of cents. Youll need a solder sucker to replace it. But yeah all the info should be in froggos video :)
