ok i'm not sure if it typically affects sound, but the game generally loading with broken sprites points to bad SRAM

i believe this is often remedied by reflowing the joints on the SRAM chip. are you able to -- ninja'd

first step is to take a look inside that cart - in all likelihood, the chip itself is fine and the issue is either the solder joints, or a trace has corroded. this is why HDR wants board pics
