Kinda sounds like the FP battery charger feeds the LiPo battery voltage directly into VCC on the GBC. It's very possible that's just too high for the Q5 ribbon, but I don't have a unit I can easily confirm that with at the moment

If that's the v2.6 ribbon you don't even need that wire, it's booting because the resistor defeats the purpose of it. the helder regulator is not aiding you in any way.

It’s also installed on the wrong side of the board. Don’t think it makes a difference here, but it’s on the wrong side.
