i have a lenovo thinkpad 1440p. i'm trying to find a compatible graphics card for running programs like godot. for some reason the card i have isn't "supported" anymore so now i can't even open these programs.
i don't know how to find what i need. i'm a visual artist and don't know all the car words. i think i find a card, but it needs to be put in an adapter? but i don't know if the adapter is compatible with that card? i'm basically asking for someone to help me do my shopping so i can run the programs i want to do. i can't even open blender.
it's a refurbished computer, i'm on a short budget. i had assumed since this computer was newer than my old one it'd be able to run the minimum requirements on things. lenovo vantage helped me get the driver to run spore but broke starbound and i'm just at my end here. idk what happened to godot. it used to open, but then close due to the drivers. now it opens and freezes. i feel like an egpu is the last thing i can try before giving up but i'm not putting out $6000 or $1000 or $500 for it. i'd just buy another laptop if i was.
i think amazon is showing me a geforce for $50 and an adapter for $50. is that something that makes sense and will work?
if it helps, my graphics card is Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 and i think i have the last supported driver using lenovo vantage (lenovo bridge wouldn't run for some reason), but if anyone knows how to get the 'right' driver for getting my games and programs to run again i'm open to it. driver booster didn't work.
