Maybe this is common issue, but when we played with my friend all assembled contraptions were invisible for him. He was able to interact with blocks, just didn't see them. Everything was ok on my side for the same time.

We had only "create" from significant mods, no shaders and texture packs.

Hmm, I think I don't have, but maybe I installed it occasionally with other mods.
