There are some questions that dont get answered after a few days so those all would get closed before receiving an answer
Mods / channel helpers can close questions on the behalf of the asker

Well, yes they would get closed, which is unfortunate. However, for the questions that are currently unanswered, they dont seem to have any follow-ups from the askers either. If their thread is automatically closed and they need an answer, they can always just post it again
I'm not saying that people arent interested in answers, but if they arent following up and trying to get a response in a few days, I'd say its safe to assume that they have found an answer elsewhere

If the user gets notified that their question has been closed and are free to ask it again in case they still need an answer, then I think it makes sense
otherwise it's mods and helpers who have to do it manually. And they do exactly that

What is the cut off for when they do it though? there are posts on the list that have been deleted by people for whatever reason, but there is still an entry for them on the questions list. And there are posts that the askers seem to have forgotten about based on their reaction when they are tagged in the thread to be followed up with.

If the original question is deleted it just needs to be cleared by a mod or channel helper

or, it can be automated to be deleted after a week or so, making it less work for mods or channel helpers

I stand for no since an unanswered question is still worth having, we shouldn't delete what users post unless there is a good reason for it. If something hasn't been answered you could ping the @Spanish Helper/@English Helper roles and indicate what is to be answered.
If a question has been answered but it's still showing up in the list you can call a staff to close it.
