@haughty sierra I just read the Wiki about Rioplatense, it's so interesting! I have a friend from Uruguay who also spent a lot of time in Italy because some of her family is there and I never made the connection that her Spanish sort of sounds slightly Italian influenced.
For our project though we're catering to the Spanish that most high school / college students in the U.S. study, so I think Rioplatense would be a bit confusing for beginners / intermediate learners. Thanks for reaching out though!

I wish in general language classes would include more variety of dialects. Like in English you are mostly just taught RP, but that is only like 3% of all speakers of English only in the UK. I'd imagine it's even less if we make a percentage that includes all native English speakers.
