don't worry, math is also art
it is quite fascinating
math is also art
Ada Dietz agrees
but if you use limits, you'll see it should approach negative infinity
all continuous in their respective halves.
ah

So...
Me resulta curioso y divertido. Algún día espero poder hablar con ella. XD
=tex d(x^2+y^2),=,2xdx+2ydy
Why is that way of taking the derivative correct? @abstract scaffold
Like am I differentiating with respect to what
Why are the dy and dx like floating alone
I was watching a vid on 6 ways to understand the derivative in French
aloha
=tex
\frac{d}{dx}(x^2+y^2) = \frac{d}{dx}(x^2) + \frac{d}{dx}(y^2) \
=tex
\begin{align*}
\frac{d}{dx}(x^2+y^2) &= \frac{d}{dx}(x^2) + \frac{d}{dx}(y^2) \
&= 2x + \frac{d}{dy}(y^2) \frac{dy}{dx} \
&= 2x + 2y \frac{dy}{dx}
\end{align*}
\
\implies \frac{d}{dx}(x^2+y^2) = 2x + 2y \frac{dy}{dx} \
\implies d(x^2+y^2) = 2xdx + 2ydy
@median trail implicit differentiation
=tex \text{Sea } g(y) = y^2 \
\implies \frac{d}{dx}g(y) = \frac{d}{dx}y^2 \
\implies \frac{d}{dx}g(y) = \frac{dg}{dx} = \frac{dg}{dy} \times \frac{dy}{dx}\
\frac{dg}{dy} = \frac{d}{dy}g(y) = \frac{d}{dy}(y^2) = 2y \
\implies \frac{d}{dx}g(y) = 2y \frac{dy}{dx}

ping
finally
someone is gonna help
Uhh... uhh... that’s not what I came here for, but sure, I’ll try XD
Is that RAM? If so, it could be that the remainder isn’t connected right internally. Just a wild guess.
Anyway, uhh... I posted this in #🎵・songs-videos as well but that channel seems to be mostly sharing music, so I figured I would get a better response to my question here.
Can anyone identify what instrument it is right here at like 2:00 in this video, that sounds really violent and then mellows out into violin? I would say it’s all an electric violin, but that’s a really loose guess.
https://youtu.be/L9t4I4absaU?t=119
Or maybe an electric guitar playing at the time time as a violin in the beginning, and then the violin takes over?

haha i figured that could happen
but i still manipulated you into helping me
so thanks
Do you like Andrew bird @main hatch ?
I like that song, I haven’t heard anything else by him.
Fair enough
idk man i just don't think it's healthy for it to be this confused
i dont think its healthy to need 64 gb of ram
your motherboard needs to support that much in the first place, it's no different for a laptop
o wait are you talking about RAM or a USB stick
lol
RAM is RAM
@main hatch it all sounds like electric violin to me. He plays it fairly often but also has some wacky instruments
@main hatch it all sounds like electric violin to me. He plays it fairly often but also has some wacky instruments
@calm flax
I’ll have to check out more of his music. I do tend to be a fan of oddball instruments used in a modern style. Plus, that violin was fantastic.
RAM = Real academia de mods
Haha
¿lo conoces?
Of course. Lmao
No le conozco
He's the king of Spain.
¿España todavía es monarchy????
We should go to #☕・general, though, this one's more for programming.
España todavía es monarchy????
@coral lagoon Yeah.
Parliamentary monarchy.
The king's just the head of state and leader of the army.
Literally means "a tomorrow", but it means "in the future" or "someday"
📝 nice
i have another question
what does Non c'e with the accent mark backwards mean
@dense loom could it mean "it's gone"?
Alguien sabe usar git stash?
not sure but maybe if you gave context
"non c'è più" perhaps
in that way
but not really like it's gone, it's similar though
Omg 64 gb
=tex \frac{\triangle y}{\triangle x} = \frac{f(x+h)-f(x)}{h}
why is an average rate of change described as f(x+h) minus f(x) instead of adding them @abstract scaffold?
is there not \delta ?
not like that relates to your question
although I can answer that if you like
@shrewd pendant \delta es la minuscula
@median trail rise/run. la pendiente. sea f(x+h) = y_2 , f(x) = y_1, h = delta(x) = x_2 - x_1
es basicamente (y_2 - y_1) / (x_2 - x_1)
=tex \Delta
well then \Delta would work right?
jinx haha
Does anyone know of a bot on telegram to download all kinds of videos from any platform? Like twitter, facebook, etc
Oh
Im sorry if I ask too many questions about this, but why derivatives coincide with a function f for small values of dx
coincide?
=tex dy = f'(x)x + (f'(x) +x + yo)
Like they are basically equal for small values of x
I guess i should read a real analysis book 😄
And learn how to prove all of this
=tex y = f'(x)x + (f'(x) +x + yo)
Idk limits are just not intuitive to me yet haha
Whats not intuitive to me is the fact that limits approximate very well the slope at that point
How is it possible to create a machine that approximates so well
when you zoom in on the graph in that neighbourhood, it looks like a straight line if you zoom in enough
=tex let f(x) = x^{2}\ lim x->0 \frac{f(x+h)-f(x)}{h} \ lim x->0 \frac{(x+h)^2-x^2}{h} \lim x->0 \frac{2hx + h^2}{h} \ lim x->0,2x+h=lim x-> 0,2x
omg thats awesome a mathbot
=tex \text{Let } f(x) = x^{2} \
\begin{align*}
\implies f'(x) &= \lim_{h \to 0} \frac{f(x+h)-f(x)}{h} \ &= \lim_{h \to 0} \frac{(x+h)^2-x^2}{h}\
&= \lim_{h \to 0} \frac{2hx + h^2}{h} \
&= \lim_{h \to 0} 2x+h \
&=2x
\end{align*}
there's some epsilon delta limit theorem where if f(x) = g(x) for all x in certain domain {let's say, para todos los numeros reales excepto cuando x = a}
then lim x -> a of f(x) = lim x -> a g(x)
^this is what is needed for the magic to happen
e.g. f(x) = x/x
g(x) = 1
Ah
cuando x -> 0, x/x tiende a 1
So im just looking for a function that's defined at x=a?
yeah. in this case.
So in this case theres a function that whose value at x=a is equivalent to what f(x+h)-f(x)/h approaches
Do we use the word approach because replacing h with zeros is a way to approximate my results?
we use approach, because technically we can't sub in a value immediately without doing more algebra
but we can get an approximate result by looking at values in that neighbourhood.
and if lucky, exact limit approach through algebra
why is the tangent line approximately equal to a function for very small values of x
Is that just a coincidence
I think I get it now
Im gonma try to explain it with my own words
Okay, firstly, I have to use the word approach because using the limit notation is just a way of saying "i wanna know what this approximates to but I cant manipulate the function using algebra and the equal sign because if I find a function thats defined at x = a, then Id be saying that its equal to a function that's not defined there. So if i solve a limit using the definition of derivatives, I'm just finding an approximation of the value the quotient is getting close to but saying that that's the value at h = 0 doesnt make any sense because it'd undefined; therefore, what makes the most sense is to say that when h is small the derivative converges to that value"
yep. it "converges"

A stochastic susceptible–infectious–recovered epidemic model with temporary immunity and media coverage is proposed. The effects of Lévy jumps on the dynamics of the model are considered. A unique global positive solution for the epidemic model is obtained. Sufficient conditio...

Food chain, guys.
Solo has comido carne y pescado en tu vida?

No, but I've seen people I know eating from the trash because they could not afford food
Pero las aves se los seguiran comiendo :(
@gusty ermine good thing we're not birds nor we have their brains
Fortunately, we're humans.
a lot of people in venezuela used to eat mangoes because they could not afford food

You can also say "bien et vous(if you don't know the person) / toi( if you know the person)"
Choose one don't use all of them at the same time
No problem
@lilac grove ça va bien,merci
@stable tinsel can't you just say ça va?

@stable tinsel can't you just say ça va?
@trail basin yes that sounds good
is it okey then "ça va moins ou plus" ?
@trail basin mhm,that sounds unnatural to me but I don't think it's incorrect. It's "plus ou moins" btw

You wanna see stuff I save? I mean it's not all philosophy but stuff I wanna learn
Yes
If you want deep ass philosophy read sapiens
I have it on my list ;)
That book is heavy as fuck
Did you read it in english or in spanish?
Audio book is better
Well I heard the audiobook in Spanish because I felt I needed to practice Spanish at that time
I had 0 closeness to anything in spanish
SHUFHDH BUT UR NATIVE
No
What
Pollito con cuchillo
THANK U BETITO
That's cute
Look at the website
@boreal peak WDYM U R NOT NATIVE
I WILL BUT I NEED TO UNDERSTAND
Understand what
Wdym u r not native
@gusty ermine and... I still need more involvement to get to native level... Maybe I need to pressure more my grammar
I think my accent is okay tho. People like it so far :v
Because it's not fully Hispanic neither is English native native
@twin bridge I'll miss u

Goodnight betito <3
Sleep well abejita
U said you are from Venezuela
Yes
So u were born in the US?
Native spanish
Yes
Bc u said to practice spanish
Lmao
So i was like wtf
I just dont understand why she said practice spanish
@marina this is HQ philosophy
Okno, its memey
Lulz
@gusty ermine because I focused so much on involving myself in English that I completely reject Spanish.... And I got tired of doing this since I got to a point I felt I was losing it. So I think it's good I practice both
Hmm...
So ur telling me I can lose english 😩
That's the best thing anyone has ever said to me
I still can't understand how people lose their native tongue.
But it's a real phenomenon, so...
Sometimes i forget words in english and it is so satisfying
Guess I'll have to try it myself.
Sometimes i forget words in english and it is so satisfying
@gusty ermine Wtf, why would that be satisfying?
Are you a Spanish fangirl or wut? Lel
It makes me realize how much my spanish has progressed
Oh, wait.
You're Marina, I didn't notice.
I hate english
Haha
Who are you?
I'm Vidis. (?)
I mean.
Are you the Marina that was here, then left, joined for some minutes and left again?
This channel? Yes
The server, I mean.
No i have never left
Unless there's more Marinas.
The pleasure is all mine <3
And... how is it that you hate English?
It's not as if I loved it, but... jsut curious.
This dude makes things fun and understandable
@Marina#9779
I can't ping marina lol
@gusty ermine
Hah!
I still can't understand how people lose their native tongue.
@edgy quarry its not that I lose it... Its just that I am not as fluent as normal or I lose my grammar level
LOL i meant to change my role and trapped myself
Lmao
@edgy quarry its not that I lose it... Its just that I am not as fluent as normal or I lose my grammar level
@boreal peak I see...
So I confuse the structure from English when I speak Spanish... Or some words come faster in one language
Problem is... I speak neither perfectly

Nobody speaks any language perfectly <3
Welcome to bilingual world
The only way I'm comfortable talking is where I can use both languages
Really? Spanglish is dope :)
Eugh
So I don't gotta think on translating if a word came to my brain in another language faster
I don't really like Spanglish.
I used t hate it..
I think what matters is to respect each language grammar rules
God bless that
@gusty ermine did you watch the video I sent
I loved it Cuz its trie
Our only drive in life is to have goals we want achieve... Once we achieve it as need more
Nono the other was mems
The last oneee
Basically... Our will yo live is to want
Without desire are we really living?
I never saw that one
So all the damn effort we make and frustration is to achieve something
But it really doesn't matter what it is... What matters is that we want something
@gusty ermine Lmao
I have no flower over my tea, but a leaf.
ewe
(Granted Im on sleep med so I might say dumb shits)
yes bc we have a skewed view of contentment
We like the chase more than the actual conquering
Not stupid shit at all
We have trouble as a collective really understanding something until it is tangible
You can decorate things however you want in your imagination
Put it on a pedestal with labels
Expectations
But it is only in hindsight that we see
Goddamn, this escalated into Evangelion too quickly.
Sometimes it was all for nothing
Goddamn, this escalated into Evangelion too quickly.
@edgy quarry what is that
Yes
In our perception but it had none in the first place
Depending on what it is
Ofc
Yah
Just an anime.
Ah oki
You should totally read or listen to sapiens
I definitely will! Dw :)
I should read it, but I'm too lazy.
I have only heard good things
I've had it for over a year and still can't continue. xD
They also touch a lot how powerful we believe in things and how much this has contributed to our evolution
Placebos?
No

Like collective believes
I hope you aren't religious
Bc of evolution?
This is a very atheist book
hi marina
Atheism is just as weird as theism, prove me wrong.
Yeah, but both deny each other with no proof.
Weird is just a word we give to what's unknown :^)
443
well, for today, i suppose
But btw, I used to dislike religion a lot... Thanks to the book it let me see it in a different way
Weird is just a word we give to what's unknown :^)
@boreal peak no ik my sisters and they are weird
I know myself and I am weird
Weird is good
I can't dislike sb's believes.
Weird is that you don't understand them
^^
Wut? xD
Sh

What are u coding deli?
Not vague at all
If we define common things as weird... Doesn't the word lose the meaning if what it was intended to?
Well nobody is normal
its all stuff behind the scenes, so there won't be too much of a difference
Most people would use the word weird to stuff they don't understand. They just find it "weird "
We are all weird in our own ways but sometimes people understand the weirdness
except that the help command for individual commands will be embeds and the commands in the general help message will be more organized
Normality doesn't exist.

Hm but relative to each other we will always be weird
Whether or not we understand why we are weird
There is weird i get and weird i don't get
I just don't know the stort behind the weird i don't get
Lel
That's all
Brb I gotta do my face
Oki :)
im weird and i dont get myself
@grim lava a psychologist would

This is getting too philosophical. :v
vidi bidi
except that the help command for individual commands will be embeds and the commands in the general help message will be more organized
@grim lava oh sorry i missed this
That is cool asf
I wish i knew how to code
This is getting too philosophical. :v
@edgy quarry i don't think so
pff no such thing
no need to start young tho, its smth u can pick up any time
Hm oki where did you start?
it helps to have some basic computer skills like being able to effectively search on google tho
thats complicated

Boomer humor 😹
i mean, i used to suck at searching but i think ive gotten a bit better
effectively searching does
yes
nais
🥰
as to answer ur question for where i started
it's complicated cuz it depends on what u mean by start

well, i suppose the very first time I picked it up was when I tried learning Java for minecraft plugins
. This was so long ago I don't remember exactly when. I didn't understand any of it and so I just gave up. That, I suppose was my very first encounter with coding.
But I didn't start again until way later
fast forward to like 8th grade
Uh...
i went into another language called Lua
How old were you back then? Idk how your system works. Haha
Hewo.
8th is like 12-13
Hi
@boreal peak holu
Lulz
Yes
so if im 17 rn, that means i was 16 at the beginning of the school year
What we talking about
8th grade is 4 grades away
Coding
so 12 and turned 13
Bruh.
@edgy quarry problem?
I now feel useless.

18yo, don't know a shit about coding.
b-but
I'm turning 18 soon and don't neither
its not everyones cup of tea
This guy's made a bot that tells you how pronunciation works.
No biggie
Mhmmmmm
its not everyones cup of tea
@grim lava
Like Kath said
jejejejeje
vidi bidi
that just means it's not everyone's thing
Not everyone likes to do it
you're being forced to learn it?
At least Python basics.
ah
Where is Kath? :(
Everywhere.
Well, it's not super hard once you get the basics down. The basics are the hardest tbh
I see...
you'll probs feel like you'll wanna give up a lot
I'm here
Maybe.
I have little to say about coding
We are here together
Say it
Say wot
well, its cuz once u get the basics down, you're practically set. you can start to look up what you don't know and your coding practices and such improve drastically
The little you do have to say
I guess getting the ball rolling is always the most difficult part
@gusty ermine I have a q, I thought you we're studying in university
The basics are the hardest cuz u have to think differently a lot of the time
But now you said you were 17
translating what you want to do into code
thats probs the hardest thing to do when starting out
@gusty ermine I have a q, I thought you we're studying in university
@boreal peak i mentioned that earlier
Like the first day we met NEHBE
Ye
What did you think I was studying?

translating what you want to do into code
@grim lava that is what is intimidating
Turning what I want into reality
anyways, i went into Lua, which is primarily a scripting language (a language for scripting, or adding on to another application). I specifically learned it for Garry's Mod and I've made several addons and have a gmod server
it's intimidating at first, but it gets better
What did you think I was studying?
@gusty ermine I think it was psychology no?
and fun, at least for me
@boreal peak well I would have been able to discuss it more LOL
I am still in module 2 of my one semester psych class @boreal peak
The beginning wasn't that fun tbh, probs cuz i couldnt do a lot of things, but it grew on me
if u wanna start out, i recommend learning a higher-level language first, like python. or if u wanna learn something with a bit more rigidity, Java or C#. What I mean by rigidity is that there overall are more restrictions, not in terms of what you can create, but in terms of how you go about making stuff. That may sound like a bad thing, but it's not necessarily. In a way, more rigidity can mean that you catch more errors before your program even starts. Some like it, some don't.
"higher-level" in that case just means farther from the hardware and generally closer to human language, farther from the 0s and 1s a computer takes
@gusty ermine
Finding pronunciation for bird...
Found a recording in English of bird. Country: United States

it also can fetch texts for the sesiones de lectura
that happen each monday and friday
and record a user in vc and give them the recording
Oh.
Vidi
there r plenty of things ur better at than me
@grim lava Not that many, but perhaps.
i hate hearing my own too, everyone does, but i made it mainly cuz its the easiest way for me to make AOTWs
also, if you record, you can have the audio sent into the aotw channels as an example or practice recording
Alas?
I sent one a while ago but deleted it
if its a practice recording, rai will register the question for u
Hold on vidi
Sure...

idk how to describe alas
I should start recording my voice for aotw. xD
Me neither :P
Use the bot
Haha
no one knows about that feature :(
Not now, I'm at college.
So it's an interjection...
I'll have to search for some more examples.
and literally im the only one who uses it lol
@grim lava uwu
So how do we use it?
If you teach two ppl the command
We can teach two people
And those people can teach two people
lol
well, to start the recording, go into a vc and type
,startrecording
then speak
and type
,endrecording
there are aliases for those commands too, if you type the help command for those, you'll find them
the shortest ones are
,sr
and
,er
no one looks at the help command for the command list either
np
Pin part of ur explanation pls UwU
Here?
I probs wont
This is a kind of random place to pin the explanation.
I'll pin an explanation in #🤖・general-bot

tho I'll do it when I wake up. I'm too tired to write a coherent explanation lol

Hice git stash save blablabla
Me voy y hago otra cosa
Push aplica y no elimina stash

I don't know if I can ask for help here. Computer wise and what not. My laptop detects the external microphone (the one attached to the earphones) but it doesn't pick up sound. I've tried uninstalling and installing the audio drivers and it didn't solve/fix the issue. I don't know what else I can do. I checked out the volume and it's at 100% it's windows 7 64 bits, the laptop model is HP. (The microphone works fine) I've tried it on another laptop and my phone)
The laptop of the microphone works well (the integrated one)
hablas y no se escucha? @thin copper
Exactly. The pc detects it but it doesn't pick up sound.
escribe en el buscador de windows
"sonido"
si no sabes, me dices
@thin copper
y despues vuelves a darle a "clic derecho - propiedades - niveles"
ok done. it still doesn't pick up any sound
has probado
configurar microfono
si no me equivoco
deberias darle a la 3 opcion?
supongo que el tuyo es el 3?
