my grandmother still has ties to the JW, she's always been one, but now she's attending less and she actually questions stuff, she is not a fanatic. And... not so long ago a JW lady visited her and just talked about stuff. My grandmother had some serious problems lately so she couldn't attend much, this woman.... just started talking about how she goes no matter what and even went when she had an 8 month pregnancy blahblah, ignoring everything she said. My grandmother is almost 80 years old and she has to take care of my grandpa all the time, + the health problems..
I have witnessed more concerning behaviour too, but yeah cult mentality is real

Welp, my plan for learning Chinese backfired. It’s much more difficult than I thought. And since I was in primary, writing was basically impossible. I could only remember writing only the very basics of characters). In high school, I did Spanish in year 7, 11 and 12. So, I am definitely much more fluent in Spanish than Chinese.
My eventual goal is to learn how to speak Cantonese though. I am learning mandarin only to be able to write pinyin on the computer or mobile. Else, I have to use handwriting on touch screen laptop/mobile/other touch screen device. I guess you could say I grew up with Cantonese and Spanish. My mother is multilingual(mandarin, cantonese, hakka, spanish, english, has a french university degree). However, I refused to learn languages when I was young so I didn't really click to me then, but now I am slowly starting to get more and more interested in those languages.
The only difficult part in Chinese for me so far is the writing. The grammar is pretty similar to English. My current goal is to just know the pinyin and learn to recognise the characters. Recognising is much easier than writing it (it's like recognising who a person is by looking at their face but then you look away and try to draw their face features, that's difficult) I will only learn to write the characters that are common or ones that look easy to semi-easy.

It's infamous for having a "focus group ending"
and it's because it was a play/musical before they made the movie, and that version (don't want to give it away) worked okay because everyone comes out and bows at the end of stage shows
but when they filmed it the test audiences were like that's the most depressing shit I've ever seen
so they had to go back and film a happy-ish ending
So the version everyone saw in theaters had a happy ending, until recently they released the original one
I actually saw the happy one growing up and wasn't a huge fan of the movie - just thought it was weird. I wandered into the room when my parents were watching what turned out to be the cut ending and I was like WHAT THE FUCK
