There is not an standard catalan.
There is Oriental catalan an occidental catalan, and each of them have its own dialects. Where one of them is majorcan and other is valencian respectively.

All spoken Finnish is colloquial if you want to think of it like that but some words do take the sae forms they have in the formal/written language
As a form of "ei" "et" is used in the written language as well

On totta joo. Kirjakieli on "kompromissi" eri murteiden välillä eikä kukaan äidinkielinen puhuja puhu kirjakielellä (paitsi uutistenlukijat uutisia lukiessaan).

We usually go with the language someone starts speaking to us in. In general we are amazed by anyone who knows even a little bit of Finnish and I can quarantee that someone who is at a conversational level (not to mention someone who is fluent) is going to get everyone all excited.

So if you start speaking on Finnish we will aldo speak Finnish.

Unless you ask to switch to English. If we are not sure which language someone prefers to use we might ask them which they prefer.
