Vengo a hacer una propuesta pero antes, quiero expresar una disculpa por el lenguaje que usé en Principiante en referencia al Slowmode. He caído en cuenta recientemente que, sin querer y sin pensarlo, puedo ser brusca en mi forma de expresarme y lastimar los sentimientos de los demás o proyectar una imagen de mí misma de algo que no soy.

Ahora, en cuanto a mi propuesta: el slowmode es impopular.

No vengo con el ánimo de discutir si lo es o no. Mi propuesta es que ustedes consideren hacer una votación entre los usuarios y así, tener una valoración de este servicio que ustedes han pensado en prestarnos y que sé, ha sido en el ánimo de beneficiar a la comunidad y no lo opuesto.

La ventaja de que lo hagan es que ustedes van a darse cuenta concretamente y en números, cuan popular o no es la medida y si los usuarios consideran que la medida los beneficia y contribuye al aprendizaje de la comunidad. Otro beneficio es que esto le va a arrojar una métrica que les permita tomar una decisión justa acerca del slowmode para los canales de Beginner y Principiante .

Hago esta propuesta con el más sincero ánimo de mejorar nuestra convivencia y nuestras interacciones con el servidor pero también, entendiendo que soy parte de esta comunidad y con la confianza que mi aporte será valorado.

Gracias por su atención y un sincero abrazo para todo aquel que esté leyendo esto.

the play buttons run some JS function which takes a few arguments. those arguments are base-64 encoded parts of the URL to the mp3 file (also available as a .ogg)

I think there should be a beginner level that is way easier than the current beginner level that the Bot provides (sorry dreli i know you put a lot of work into the bot). The beginner texts provided in both languages really aren't beginner texts and for people who actually need easier texts, they're kind of being left out. [Edit: today in lecture we found an actual beginner text of shorter length for a beginner reader. The length of the text and common vocab/verbs allowed us to help the person in a few specific ways without wasting their time on words they will never see in real text]

I think someone might have mentioned about a Hard text option being introduced? That'd be good too.

Lastly, and most importantly, these texts are kinda whack, no offense to wherever they come from lol. They have a lot of older language that isn't utilized anymore or is awkward, and I think that when people are reading, it might help them to be able to semi-understand what's being said. The benefits of this would be that: the readers will simultaneously be practicing their pronunciation and becoming more familiar with common language used in different types of texts/general sentence structures/fluency ability.

Thus, I'm proposing that we add a lottt of new reading passages to the collection, all of various topics, many of which are relevant to our present world, and readers may actually be able to learn something from. I'd be down to look for reading passages of different topics and levels. (I'm becoming a teacher so i'm familiar with literacy strategies and reading levels and stuff). Anyways. I'm not expecting anything but I know you're good listeners and these lectures really are an awesome experience.

Hey. Yeah. I'm aware that the bot doesn't quite get the difficulties down too well. Currently I'm working on reorganizing my code so that I can add more sources with ease. Then, I'm going to do some pronunciation difficulty detection. Im planning on getting rid of 3 of the 4 sources I pull things from, which include the ones with archaic words. After I reorganize, and implement difficulty detection, a hard option will be added too

That limit would be fine if there were 5 people who spoke and 3 people who listened, but there are not always people "who just listen"

I'd find it a bit "overwhelming" to have 8 people talking at once on a beginner channel, but I'll discuss it with the other moderators

I understand. To give an example: although I'm a noob for now in Spanish (listening, trying to not to "contaminate" the channel with English where one should stick to Spanish), in other language servers I myself prefer to be in a voice group chat of 2-4 people at most, as I can talk in those languages and am active and social.
