can we have the aotw texts be less formal? It's harder for learners to read at a consistent pace when there are unfamiliar words. If the texts were like transcripts from a casual conversation, people would be able to read faster and more consistent due to the easier vocab. Also, beginners would be able learn more useful vocab for conversations, rather than verbs that would only primarily be used in literature.
Also it would make it easier to practice stuff like intonation and getting used to the flow of the language, because you can't really do that when you have to stop and pronounce a word slower because you're unfamiliar with it

I think these types of texts are great as well because they're really challenging and therefore more likely to help you improve and they help us learn new words. I do think they should do something like switch between hard and easy texts each week, tho, because complete beginners would find this to be way too hard

I don't think "abattoir" or "hunker" are very common words used in everyday conversation. I know you would still have to learn words, but I think it would be more useful for learners to learn words that would be used in everyday conversation as opposed to words like "abattoir"

La tercera opción es la que te lleva a #report_room

Just for futures sake, how we fixed the problem of being able to talk in #💡・serious-topics without a language role:
Split the permissions of viewing and speaking into the language and channel role
- Explicitly deny the permission to both read/send messages from the everyone role
- Explicitly allow people with the channel role to read messages in the channel (they can't send messages with just this)
- Explicitly allow people with a native language role to send messages in the channel (but they won't be able to view the channel without the channel role)
So they need both roles in order to use the channel.
