― Server ― 
・Why can't I join voice channels?

New members need to wait 3 hours. New accounts need to wait 24 hours.
Note, if you are a member that has been in our server before and you just rejoined, message @red zenith to gain special permission to join the voice channels.

・How do I get roles?

You can add/remove roles by answering the questions in id:customize or using the bot commands ;iam <role_name> or .iam <role_name> in #🤖・general-bot.
You can also remove roles by using ;iamn <role_name> or .iamn <role_name>.
To see the lists of assignable roles, use ;lsar or .lsar.

・I'm new here, how does this server work?

Welcome! Please have a look in #🧭・server-info for an overview. (If after reading that you still have questions, please feel free to contact the Staff in #⚓・contact-staff).

・How do I become a mod/part of staff?

We generally don't accept applications. The mods usually wait until they get to know a user by seeing someone that is dedicated to helping the server and staff team before reaching out to offer them position.

・Someone is breaking the rules, how do I report them?

Please send a private message to @red zenith. See #🛂・create-a-ticket for more information. For emergencies please ping <@&642782671109488641> in the channel you're in.

― Events ― 
・When and where is an event/activity happening?

Events and activities are announced in #🎪・events and the events tab at the top of the server. If you want to be notified when an event starts, get the <@&835578617269584013> role in id:customize.

・How can I host an event?

You're free to host a casual activity in our server e.g. streaming a movie, starting Sesión de Lectura, Storytime, etc. However, if you would like to host something different or want to make it server-wide, please apply by sending a private message to @red zenith.

・How do I get started studying English/Spanish?

・Find a reason to learn the language. Even many small reasons together is great.
・Get basic vocabulary and grammar down (e.g. classes, Duolingo, Anki, textbooks, Youtube, etc.)
・Start with 10 minutes a day learning one of the main skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing)
・Consume content that is just outside your range of comprehension, where you understand most of the words and can get the rest from context. Once it feels easy, go for more difficult content.
・Keep track of how much you are practicing and progressing so that when you feel stuck you can look back to how you started as a beginner.
・Have a look in #📗・first-steps and #📘・primeros-pasos for some resources for beginners.

・I'm studying Spanish/English (often in school) but I feel stuck, how do I progress?

・You’re probably not doing enough immersion i.e. consuming natural content in your target language. Consume content that is just outside your range of comprehension, where you understand most of the words and can get the rest from context. Once it feels easy, go for more difficult content. It’s both more fun and more effective than studying the language explicitly.
・If you’re stuck on grammar or a grammatical concept, learn how it is presented in your native language (or another language you already know.) Grammar is complex and ties into all aspects of learning the language. You can ask for help in #📘・questions-lounge or #📗・preguntas-lounge.

・How do I learn to pronounce correctly?

・For beginners, learn the alphabet and sounds that don’t exist in your native language.
・You will have a foreign accent and that’s OK. IPA might help. Check out Wiktionary and Youglish.
・If you’re struggling pronouncing a certain word, ask a native to say it slowly for you and watch their lips when they say it.
・You can participate in our Sesión de Lectura. Have a look in #📕・how-to-join-lectura.
・For advanced learners, try shadowing a native speaker.

・¿Por qué no puedo participar en los canales de voz?

Los nuevos miembros deben esperar 3 horas. Las nuevas cuentas deben esperar 24 horas.
