#Raymarching?

I have a 3d texture and I'd like to use a screen space shader to raymarch it. I've done some googling, looked at Sebastian Lague's raymarch video (and eventually ended up copying his code, to no avail) and I think I might need some help with this.

The 3d texture represents the distance from a given position, e.g 1 is the closest and 0 is farthest

i'd like to raymarch it and try and make volumetric smoke off of it, but i don't know how! does anybody know anything about this topic?
