LuckPerms only acts as the source for prefixes / suffixes, it doesn't actually apply them. You need an appropriately configured chat/tablist formatting plugin for them to be displayed. If the values appear correctly when you run /lp user <user> info, LuckPerms is doing its job!

I tried it out personally in the first 24 hours after release, Nucleus registers as a loaded plugin and /Nucleus works in the server console but no other command load/work in game. It's the only "EssentialsX/LuckPerms" alternative for Spongeforge. There's a few other small plugins that do /tpa/sethomes but none good enough to run a proper server on, so everyone has ran to Arclight

I've not been up to date with the modding scene in ages, but I'm seeing a lotttt of Sponge/Spongeforge shit talk

sponge is basically bukkit but with mod support built into the api

bukkit makes a lot of assumptions about the vanilla game that just dont work when you start adding mods

but the sponge api is built around the fact that there could be mods

i think it might also make updating to newer minecraft versions easier for sponge plugins as new vanilla content can basically be treated as modded content but ive never really used sponges api between versions before so i dont actually know

i defo just stuck with the first solution that worked, but pretty much everyone whop's running Pixelmon servers are using Arclight/Mohist

It's been working surprisingly well, only thing I've not been able to do is get WorldEdit to work, although supposedly it's possible with tinkering

For Pixelmon, sponge will not be ready

Unless you're a dev or have coding experience, like complacent, you'll be left behind
And so far any dev I know is moving further away from Sponge, so even then, finding a free one is rare/very expensive
