languid gale
#

Ik yea

#

ok

languid gale
#

Should i pregen the nether and end?

potent prawn
#

usually a good idea

languid gale
#

Ok

#

My 10kx10k main world took ages xd

#

and it like ran out of ram

#

and crashed

steel shuttle
#

try using chunky to pregenerate it

languid gale
#

ok

#

sounds good lol

steel shuttle
#

yeah lol what were you using before

languid gale
#

ChunkMaster

steel shuttle
#

oh ok

languid gale
#

this looks like its 100 years old

#

oh i was on the wrong page

steel shuttle
#

yeah well if you turned it up to mega generation speeds then it probably can run out of ram yeah

languid gale
#

I just set a 10kx10k border then did /chunkborder generate

steel shuttle
#

oh ok

#

are you using a paper server and aikars flags

languid gale
#

Idk

#

Im using paper

#

what is aikars flags

steel shuttle
languid gale
#

oh i saw them

steel shuttle
#

memory flags for java which help in general but are tremendously useful for world gen too

languid gale
#

which ones do i use lol

#

idek how to use them with my web server im using

steel shuttle
#

all of it, just copy paste the block of text

languid gale
#

java -Xms10G -Xmx10G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=5 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=4 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=90 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=5 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -Dusing.aikars.flags=https://mcflags.emc.gs -Daikars.new.flags=true -jar paperclip.jar nogui

steel shuttle
#

change the first 2 10G to how much ram the server has though

languid gale
#

that?

steel shuttle
#

yeah that

languid gale
#

wow pretty long ok

steel shuttle
#

but 10G's to whatever ram you have

languid gale
steel shuttle
#

and then yeah try chunky, its also faster than chunkmaster

#

but if it crashes still with chunky and with chunkmaster then its probably the server sucks

languid gale
#

Idk how to set flags with that

potent prawn
#

why is there always a paypal donate image for aikar's sites hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

languid gale
#

xd

steel shuttle
#

yeah i guess they dont give you aikars flags then

#

so it might have memory problems while generating

languid gale
#

I cant edit them

steel shuttle
#

but 7 gb is good

languid gale
#

i dont think

steel shuttle
#

yeah idk

#

just try running chunky

languid gale
#

kk

steel shuttle
#

it shouldnt crash but if it does then the server just sucks

#

ask them maybe to use aikars flags

languid gale
#

I host the server

#

but i use a web interface to interact with it

#

I host it on a dedicated machine

#

not on my pc

steel shuttle
#

i see

#

well then you should be able to change it somehow

#

prob in the panel settings

languid gale
#

kk

#

o

#

that looks like it might be saomthing to do with it?

steel shuttle
#

yup

languid gale
#

I stick it there ig

#

Pre or after?

steel shuttle
#

pre arguments is all the flags stuff before the jar file name

languid gale
#

ok

steel shuttle
#

after arguments is anything after the jar name

languid gale
#

lol im pretty stupid

#

idk what the jar name is

steel shuttle
#

the pre stuff is the important part

languid gale
#

What is pre

#

java -Xms10G -Xmx10G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=5 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=4 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=90 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=5 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -Dusing.aikars.flags=https://mcflags.emc.gs -Daikars.new.flags=true -jar paperclip.jar nogui

steel shuttle

java -Xms10G -Xmx10G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=5 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=4 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=90 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=5 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -Dusing.aikars.flags=https://mcflags.emc.gs -Daikars.new.flags=true -jar paperclip.jar nogui

languid gale
#

oh all of it is pre

steel shuttle
#

the bolded stuff is the jar

#

so most of it is pre

languid gale
#

Oh

#

nogui isnt even needed

#

well it might be

#

idk

steel shuttle
#

ok well give it a try anyway its like 3 am for me so im going to go 😛

languid gale
#

xd cya ty for the help

steel shuttle
#

hopefully your server doesnt crash again from generating

languid gale
#

yeah

steel shuttle
#

remove the second xms xmx

languid gale
#

ok

steel shuttle
#

and the java part

#

java -Xms10G -Xmx10G

#

see how that part is duplicate

#

so remove it

languid gale
#

ohhh ok

steel shuttle
#

also is this on windows

languid gale
#

yes

#

i was gonna use petrodactyl

steel shuttle
#

that could be another reason why chunk generation might be crashing

languid gale
#

but i cant setup a ubuntu vm

#

why?

steel shuttle
#

windows is much much worse at file I/O performance

languid gale
#

oof

steel shuttle
#

which is basically most of what chunk generation is

languid gale
#

oh rip

#

The world file is 3gb

steel shuttle
#

lol yeah because its saving chunks to disk

languid gale
#

idk how big a 10k is supposed to be

steel shuttle
#

10k radius is fine, prob like 10-15 gb total

languid gale
#

wow thats huge

steel shuttle
#

yeah thats why most servers dont go bigger

#

but yeah so you might have several different issues with the server but maybe those flags will partially solve them

languid gale
#

ok

#

lets hope

cuz my mc server uses 0&

0% xd

#

Idk why its only using 0

#

xd

potent prawn
#

it most certainly does matter

languid gale
#

does it

vocal rivet
#

Yes

languid gale
#

I mean like

#

I know i need one

potent prawn
#

it's the most important component lol

vocal rivet
#

What CPU do you have?

languid gale
#

some 20 quid one

#

ill get it

#

1 sec

vocal rivet
#

Thats a bit slow

languid gale
#

Ik

#

it came in the server

vocal rivet
#

A max clock of 2.6

languid gale
#

The server has 2 cpu slots

#

it only is using one

vocal rivet
#

I know how servers work ;P

languid gale
#

Ok u seem pretty smart

vocal rivet
#

I have 3 standing here at home ^^

languid gale
#

Oh yeah i forgot that u do

#

I mean

#

Does it matter with only 2.6 max clock

vocal rivet
#

There are a few better CPUs for that socket

languid gale
#

Do i need a better cpu tho

vocal rivet
#

Yeah, because stuff like generating the world or processing plugins is done using the CPU

languid gale
#

oh rip

#

Whats a decent internet speed too?

vocal rivet
#

This one for example is a lot better, and fits the socket

#

but, it only supports 24Gb RAM

languid gale
#

I only got 12 gb of ram

#

i think i might updade ram instead

#

upgrade

#

Its like 6 sticks of 2

vocal rivet
#

Also, yes the internet speed also matters

languid gale
#

nvm its 16gb

#

Oh

#

It aint one gigabit

#

but its kinda good

#

ig

vocal rivet
#

oof

#

iidk how much bandwidth Minecraft uses, so I am overasked here

languid gale

sorry

ashen stump

languid gale

how do i assign mbps?

You don't

#

thats what the game uses

languid gale

Ok

So i can only have like 5 players with 7gb

lofty compass

I'm gonna run a Mc server on my phone

#

@languid gale if it's not a modpack then when 7GB of ram dedicated to a server you should be able to host 50+ depending on other hardware limitations

lofty compass

As long as you keep the render distance low it's typically about 128MB+ per person. I know it may use a few GB even with 1 person but it doesn't scale like that.

I even had 50 players with 4GB running feed the beast lol

Hey guys

#

I’ve been thinking - is it even worth opening a server when you don’t have hundreds of dollars for advertising?

rigid widget
#

Depends on why you're opening it

#

and what you want from it

violet rivet
#

IMO, you shouldn't try run a server for profit. 😛 It almost ALWAYS fails unless you have top of the line hardware to handle lots of players (Lots of players means people will hang around to stay with everybody) you will also need some sort of fresh server content almost weekly/bi-weekly to keep people entertained. All that involves a lot of work your end, or at least you having to hire/pay someone to manage it with you (Unless you're able to develop plugins/mods/etc yourself then, you're onto a winner?)

violet rivet

#

Nope

#

still not fixed

pearl fern
#

hello it's me again

#

let me explain the situation in more detail

#

we're using cmi for names/nicknames, luckperms for prefixes and multichat for the chat

#

we have two servers in our network and are trying to setup a virtually seamless connection, i.e. tricking players into thinking they're on the same server

#

but the current issue is this

#

if you're on server A and send a message, you will see your name as white with no prefix

violet rivet
#

So post your current (broken?) format

pearl fern
#

sure

#

globalformat: "%DISPLAYNAME%%SUFFIX%:&f "

violet rivet
#

have you told it to use global format and not override global format on the backend servers?

pearl fern
#

the setting to override global format is set to false

violet rivet
#

Do you have placeholderAPI installed

pearl fern
#

yes we do

violet rivet
#

do you have the LP addon downloaded

pearl fern
#

you mean /papi ecloud download LuckPerms?

violet rivet
#

YEs

pearl fern
#

yeah, we have that

#

we removed prefix from displayname format as well which fixes our issue

#

but it shows realname instead of nickname

deft cobalt
#

@vocal rivet Centos, Running a bungeecord network, Survival server on 1.16.1. Constantly hitting too many files open, even after raising soft and hard limits to 100k

outer vesselBOT
#

Hey Lipsmoker! Please don't tag helpful/staff members directly.

deft cobalt
#

Oops!

#

I have done lsop dump and it's just the same stuff over and over again, Plugins etc

#

It can happen after 12 hours after complete reboot, or 5 days, seemingly random.

vocal rivet
#

What is all on the server?

deft cobalt
#

Plugin wise?

vocal rivet
#

sysctl fs.inotify.max_user_watches

deft cobalt
vocal rivet
#

Try increasing that value to the 10x

deft cobalt
#

Can you tell me the command, sorry im useless

vocal rivet
deft cobalt
#

I just dont understand the theory behind it all, When i view lsof, lets use an example file. griefprevention.log when it logs to grief prevention, Why doesnt it close it? then open it again when it needs to.

what it does is

open griefprevention.log

then needs it

opens it again

needs it again.. opens it again

on every plugin and every file until it hits the limit.

by that theory, everyone 100% of the time will hit the limit fast, and always hit it regardless of what it is

vocal rivet
#

Because closing and opening files constantly is much more inefficent then keeping a filestream open

deft cobalt
#

That makes sense but if the file griefprevention.log is already open

#

why re open it?

#

Why not grab the version that is already open

vocal rivet
#

Thats how it should work

#

Unless the developer didn't implement the re-usage of a filestream and also doesnt close the filestream

deft cobalt
#

It's doing this on every plugin for me

#

Re opening them over and over again

#

my lsof shows this

#

No errors or issues in my other servers on the same bungeecordnetwork / server too, only survival acts this way

#

Wondering if there is a way to lsof my other servers independently and see if they are similar in terms of lsof dump

#

So i ran top to check some stuff out, Mc2 at the very top is my survival server and SHR is very high compared to the others, Whats SHR? share?

#

Heres my limits, sorry for spam

#

Hold on... Doesn't the hardlimit just set how high the soft limit can go? There for if my soft is still 5k.. it's still gonna be 5k.. not the 100k

Ugh, 5 hours, and no step closer to finding and solving the issue

lofty compass

1MB is 1024KB

gilded nova
languid gale

I dont remember asking

lofty compass

8 bit is 1 byte

gilded nova
#

Okay

languid gale
#

xd im jk

#

its better than mine

lofty compass
#

Sec

gilded nova
#

Usually its over 110, but I guess it is peak time

languid gale
#

I get 200 but my £12 splitter aint cutting it

gilded nova
#

Just use an ethernet over power adapter or somethin

languid gale
#

done it

#

i used too

#

i got 10 mbps

#

no joke

#

it was terrible

gilded nova
#

We wired our house with CAT6 when it was getting built not long ago

languid gale
#

wow

gilded nova
#

and we have fibre to the house so its really reliable for Aussie internet

languid gale
#

Aussie net

#

sounds like some dark web stuff

gilded nova
#

lol

#

Idk what you're into but okay

languid gale
#

xd

#

i aint into that darkweb stuff

lofty compass
#

There you go

languid gale
#

gilded nova

lofty compass
#

My server gets between 2Gbit-6Gbit

languid gale
#

lofty compass
#

Lol

#

Gottem

languid gale
#

u knew

lofty compass
#

Yea

languid gale
#

:(

violet rivet
#

@lofty compass I just downloaded ram. It got stuck in the fibre cable. Now what.

languid gale
#

shake the cable a bit

#

u should hear a click when its free

violet rivet
#

close enough

lofty compass
#

Cut it free

languid gale
#

2 ping

#

shuttup

violet rivet
#

2 yeah

#

it's nice

#

FTTP

languid gale
#

Ur lucky

violet rivet
#

ew wow

#

what are you doing

#

tying a knot in the cable?!

languid gale
#

Isnt kbps better than mbps right?

violet rivet
#

Er no

languid gale
#

uh

#

what

violet rivet
#

Kilo < Mega

languid gale
#

o

violet rivet
#

Kilo = 1000 mega = 1000000

languid gale
#

No wonder it takes 13 minutes to open youtube

violet rivet
#

Dialup?

languid gale
#

??

#

Im not that high iq

violet rivet
#

Dialup is .. well 56k

#

:L

languid gale
#

oh its my pc

#

ethernet cable

violet rivet
#

in the middle of nowhere?

languid gale
#

no in my house

languid gale
#

Can i stream on 92kbps?

lofty compass
#

My home internet

violet rivet
#

why upload so low

lofty compass
#

It's not fiber

violet rivet
#

Ah

#

Mine "should" be 100/100

languid gale
#

wdym by fiber

#

the cable going to ur pc

#

or the cable going to the modem

lofty compass
#

They go up to 1Gbit on copper

violet rivet
#

glass / light vs copper/electricity

lofty compass
#

I mean about a mile or more going to the house is all copper cables

violet rivet
#

It'll be FTTS then CTTP

gilded nova
#

Who the fuck uses copper these days

violet rivet
#

Me

#

🙂

gilded nova
#

Ew

#

You need fttp

#

It just.. works

violet rivet
#

I couldn't justify the fibre from the switch to the back of my PC because there's no drivers for my fibre NIC on windows 10 yet.

lofty compass
violet rivet
#

lmao coax

lofty compass
#

They offer 1Gig on that lol

violet rivet
#

They call that "FibreX" here

#

Technically it's fibre to the boundary then coax to the premis

#

here is' fibre the entire way

#

we've got a media converter inside the house

lofty compass
#

Yea we have fiber all over but the last bit to the houses is copper

violet rivet
#

that then goes to copper for routers etc

#

in most cases theres like 1m of copper then the router

lofty compass
#

Ours is whole street is still copper

violet rivet
#

Yucky 😄

languid gale
#

yeah i have copper

#

no point in a fiber cable

violet rivet
#

Fibre is the ducks knees.. The bees guts... the bomb

lofty compass
#

You can get 2gig if you pay the construction fee

languid gale
#

oh yes

violet rivet
#

free install here

#

😄

languid gale
#

how much is the fee

#

couple million

lofty compass
#

Used to be 1k now it's 300 I think

violet rivet
#

I have a roll of the fibre cable they use, i'd say there's at least $500 of material on that roll

languid gale
#

.

#

send some

violet rivet
#

So, i could potentially fibre my house up

languid gale
#

ill do it myself

violet rivet
#

lmao

#

do you have a splicer

languid gale
#

how much are traffic cones

#

nah ill use scizzors

lofty compass
#

Lol it's not that simple

languid gale
#

yes it is

lofty compass
#

You gotta melt them

violet rivet
#

you just twist the glass together

#

dip it in hot glue

lofty compass
#

Perfectly

violet rivet
#

done

#

🙂

languid gale
#

no u just do it diy

#

they try to scam u

violet rivet
#

glue a mirror to the end

languid gale
#

they say u need that fancy stuff

violet rivet
#

so the light bounces from one to the other

languid gale
#

yeah

#

get some foil

violet rivet
#

then call in the pros because it doesn't work

lofty compass
#

Just point a lazer down a pipe

languid gale
#

XD

#

nah

#

point the pipe at the sun

lofty compass
#

Btw fiber isn't as fast as light

violet rivet
#

sadly jno

#

no*

#

otherwise ping 0ms

#

vs 1ms

lofty compass
#

Almost tho

languid gale
#

well my fiver is

#

fiber

#

ill make it fast as light

lofty compass
#

You'd literally need to use a laser in a vacuum

violet rivet
#

electricity is as fast as light

languid gale
#

pass me some raw electricity then

violet rivet
#

could just you know.. up the voltage on the copper belowground so it doesn't lose signal as much

#

🌩️

lofty compass
#

Yea but even copper has resistance

languid gale
#

do u guys want some entertainment

violet rivet
#

Not if you get that oxygen free pure copper that people rave about

#

You know, the $1000 hdmi cable

#

the $50000 speaker cable

languid gale
#

YES

#

It gomes

#

comes

#

with diamonsd

lofty compass
#

Use gold

languid gale
#

no

#

use humans

#

human chain

violet rivet
#

Could just use string and cups

languid gale
#

then use a speaker

violet rivet
#

sound waves are slower than light/electricity

languid gale
#

to send bits down the mic

#

oh

#

so thats why i only get 92kbps?

violet rivet
#

Windows 10 setup 'we want everything to be ready for you'

#

that's not creepy at all...

languid gale
#

hM

lofty compass
#

Silver is technically the best

violet rivet
#

I think a chain of 1MOhm resistors would do well

languid gale
#

chain of fanta cans

violet rivet
#

that's just a fantasea...

#

it'll never happen

languid gale
#

fantasea

#

omg

lofty compass
#

I know when I used to buy speaker wire I always went with silver. Cost more but my minecraft sounded good

violet rivet
#

Could be a fantastick if you held all the cans upright

languid gale
#

:o

violet rivet
#

My minecraft sounds good with CCA cable

#

🙂

#

I have sounds turned off

languid gale
#

same

#

they break when i turn my headphones off and on

lofty compass
#

You don't listen to pigstep?

languid gale
#

i have before

#

its very good

violet rivet
#

Fixing a computer for my neighbour.. Using something without an SSD is so painful

lofty compass
#

Yea

languid gale
lofty compass
#

Hard to tell if it's something else when the drive is a sloth

languid gale
#

wait have a question

violet rivet
#

computer was fine

languid gale
violet rivet
#

she just didn't know what the password was because her ex wouldn't tell her

languid gale
#

Is that bad for 3 drives

#

In raid

lofty compass
#

She single then?

violet rivet
#

No idea, but it was easy to remove the password :L

languid gale
#

now i wonder what the covered one is lmao

lofty compass
#

Lol

languid gale
#

1tb drive

#

lord

violet rivet
#

it's the name of my server network

languid gale
#

oh ok

#

1.8tb

#

ur so organised

violet rivet
#

all ssd's except for the 2tb

languid gale
#

is it a raid in partitions?

lofty compass
#

I have 1TB NVMe M.2, 1TB SSD, and 2TB HDD

violet rivet
#

nope

#

all individual disks

languid gale
#

bru

#

h

violet rivet
#

ssd's are cheap

#

$80 for 480gb

lofty compass
#

Ye

languid gale
#

a 20 slot server isnt

lofty compass
#

I paid like 90 for my 1TB

violet rivet
#

that's my actual PC

#

the other one was my server

languid gale
#

recordings on a server?

#

oh

violet rivet
#

nah it's not for recordings

languid gale
#

an empty drive full of recordings

#

make a txt file called its lonley in here

violet rivet
#

I removed the recording software

languid gale
#

oh ok

violet rivet
#

wait no it's for OBS now

#

still haven't used it

languid gale
#

well

#

My server has 3 sas drives

violet rivet
#

sometimes I stream my IP cameras on the house

#

for shits n giggles

languid gale
#

is a sas drive good

violet rivet
#

is it a 10k drive

#

or 15k

languid gale
#

where does it say

#

on the front of the drive?

#

10k

#

146gb

#

apprently 3x146 is 272

lofty compass
#

Hehe

languid gale
#

75hz

#

bro thats so quick omg

lofty compass
#

Oof

languid gale
#

i have 3 of them

#

max productivity

lofty compass
#

Mines 144Hz

violet rivet
#

How much did you pay for the RGB strip may I ask?

lofty compass
#

Lemme look

violet rivet
#

and is it digital rgb or boring rgb

languid gale
#

400 usd

#

is my guess

lofty compass
#

$18

languid gale
#

bruh

violet rivet
#

how many leds, and digital?

languid gale
#

theres actual leds for 400

#

u can controll each individual one

lofty compass
violet rivet
#

if you pay $400 for that.. you should.. get off the internet

languid gale
#

bruh idk

violet rivet
#

$30 for 600~ leds

#

300 sorry

#

$30 60led/m 5m roll

#

ws2812b strip

languid gale
#

I mean i have some £5 leds that i can controll with my echo

lofty compass
#

I have everything set to white lol

languid gale
#

wow

violet rivet
#

I have about $30k worth of those leds

languid gale
#

just stick a lightbulb in there

violet rivet
#

they're on my house

languid gale
#

what leds

violet rivet
#

and they require an i7 CPU to run them

#

rgb digital leds

#

where you can control each one

languid gale
#

so

#

i have a question

#

how big is said house

violet rivet
#

er

lofty compass
#

Turned whole house into a tv

violet rivet
#

standard house size?

#

lmao

languid gale
#

30k worth of leds though...

violet rivet
#

3 bedrooms etc

lofty compass
#

You can flip off airplanes

violet rivet
#

It says 4k so you have to watch it in 4k, ok?

lofty compass
#

Need more lights

violet rivet
#

that's only 130k

#

I have 260k this year

languid gale
#

me whos monitor isnt 4k

violet rivet
#

neither is mine

lofty compass
#

All white

languid gale
#

thats what i see

#

on my monitor

#

My monitor is deteriating

violet rivet
#

My PC interior is a mixture of rainbows, wires and pipes

#

And a little bit of dust

#

"HP support framework cannot be uninstalled because HP support assistant requires it"

#

Ok, i'll get rid of the support assistant first then

lofty compass
#

Throw the whole PC away

violet rivet
#

It's not mine

lofty compass
#

So

languid gale
#

Mines consists of Dust A loose SSD an unplugged HDD a cracked plastic pannel and pure gaming power

violet rivet
languid gale
#

thats me

#

xd

violet rivet
#

Ah

languid gale
#

oh yes

violet rivet
#

Yeah, that's an epic sign :L

languid gale
#

it is

violet rivet
#

You clearly found my pixel test video?

languid gale
#

How many usb hubs did u use to do the NotEnoughLights

violet rivet
#

0

lofty compass
#

So smol

languid gale
#

thats sad

#

wow

violet rivet
#

all done over ethernet

#

draws quite a bit of bandwidth too

languid gale
#

rlly

#

so their powerd by air

#

wrong image

lofty compass
#

Go away linus

languid gale
lofty compass
#

Before you drop us

violet rivet
#

too late

languid gale
#

Who took my raspberry pi case

violet rivet
#

Damnit paper, why aren't you out for 1.16.2 yet

languid gale
#

paper is legit

lofty compass
#

Btw I kno mines not small but it's mini itx

languid gale
#

yeah i was gonna ask if it was mini itx

violet rivet
#

full ATX here

languid gale
#

I could make a hoodie for cheaper than that

lofty compass
#

I get on the ltt mc server sometimes

violet rivet
#

they have a MC server?

languid gale
#

ive been on once

#

yes on that like 2tb of ram thing

violet rivet
#

I mean I know they were building one, but didn't know they kept it open

languid gale
#

same

#

untill i did my research

lofty compass
#

Nah they using ovh

#

They took the ones from the videos apart

languid gale
#

are they???

violet rivet
#

It hurt when they put like that stupidly OP CPU in there

#

two of them

#

infact..

languid gale
#

xd

#

was it an EPYC

#

one

lofty compass
#

They re purposed them lol

violet rivet
#

Would've gotten away with 1

#

oh good

#

I have an i7 10700K running my servers

#

and it's fine

lofty compass
#

I'm a distinguished member on their mc

#

Was the largest town mayor for a bit

languid gale
#

I have an E5620

#

its the best cpu

violet rivet
#

I have 2 of those

lofty compass
#

Named my town AMD_Rayzens

violet rivet
#

sitting in my parts bin

languid gale
#

.

violet rivet
#

Should've named it Intel_Rasins

languid gale
violet rivet
#

I swapped my E5620 for 2 x5690

languid gale
#

is that better?

violet rivet
#

Yeah

#

makes more heat

#

faster

#

but still sucks for running servers

languid gale
#

my server allready sounds like a jetengine

violet rivet
#

Mine sits below my desk

#

its quieter than my main pc

#

it has 2 fans

#

CPU fan and the PSU fan

languid gale
#

mine sits behind my pc

#

it has about 20 fans

#

those weird removeable ones

#

with clips

#

dude i dont belive u with that trade

lofty compass
#

We had a member in the town named Intel_cpu

#

Lol

languid gale
violet rivet
#

mine isn't a "Server" profiled machine, it's just a tower

languid gale
#

ah ok

#

mines a certified jet engine

lofty compass
#

Ok

#

I only have i7-7700K and Xeon E3-1240

languid gale
#

ah thats an oof

lofty compass
#

And Xeon E-2136 for mc

violet rivet
#

i7 9700KF and an i7 10700K for my main machine and the server

#

whole bunch of i7 2600's floating around and an i7 4770

lofty compass
#

I prolly switching to amd next year

violet rivet
#

Traitor

lofty compass
#

I had amd before lol

violet rivet
#

I've used AMD pc's

#

found them to be slower than their intel equivs

#

Just generally not had a positive experience with AMD

lofty compass
#

I had FX 8320 and R9 290x

violet rivet
#

They could've just been crappy CPU's

#

for all I know

gilded nova
#

FX 8320 was a bad chip. Didn't it run really hot too? or was that the 9000 series

violet rivet
#

AMD video cards i wouldn't mind trying, they sound decent

#

Pentium 4 could be used to heat water for a shower if you were that desperate.

gilded nova
#

Seen videos of them cooking eggs on the heat spreader

lofty compass
#

They all ran "hot" but they throttled at 70c

gilded nova
#

throttled at 70? really

lofty compass
#

Yea

violet rivet
#

Yet to see my server throttle

#

Sits at 4.66 all the time

gilded nova
#

I still have a 4690k

#

i5

lofty compass
#

People used like phenoms for cooking

gilded nova
#

lol

violet rivet
#

I had an i7 2600 up until the end of last year

gilded nova
#

My pc^

lofty compass
#

I had i7 920

violet rivet
#

Woo MSI GPU 😄

#

What model?

gilded nova
#

Its a gtx 1060

lofty compass
#

I hate msi lol

violet rivet
#

Ah I have the 960

#

Green version of yours

gilded nova
#

I have a MSI motherboard and GPU

#

ah okay

lofty compass
#

Just hope you don't have to rma

gilded nova
#

I haven't needed to for the past 5 years or so

#

LOL

violet rivet
#

Fans on mine don't even spin half the time, it's that good

gilded nova
#

Neither until I get on games more intensive than MC

violet rivet
#

Even on MC with shaders they "spin slow" and sometimes stall

gilded nova
#

I was going to steal the 6600k from another machine in the house thats unused to replace with my 4690k

#

I might do that some time this week

lofty compass
#

I rma a mobo. They sent a broken one then said it's serial number isn't in their system and refused to replace it

gilded nova
#

I'd definitely use more of it lol

violet rivet
#

Doesn't the 6600k require ddr4

gilded nova
#

Yeah, I'll need to steal the motherboard and RAM too lol

violet rivet
#

Lmao

gilded nova
#

But it's okay, I was given the green light to a while ago but never could be bothered

violet rivet
#

I was like.. I wonder if the 4770 would fit in place of a 2600..

#

damnit socket is different

gilded nova
#

It wouldn't I don't think

#

Yeah

violet rivet
#

Onsold that motherboard/ram/CPu combo for liike $300

gilded nova
#

LGA 1150 vs 1151? or is it lga 1155

violet rivet
#

1155 and 1150 i think

gilded nova
#

Ah okay

violet rivet
#

1155 for the older

gilded nova
#

sad times

violet rivet
#

1150 for the newer

lofty compass
#

1150, 1151, 1156, 1155

gilded nova
#

Yeah

lofty compass
#

1200

gilded nova
#

Mine uses 1150

violet rivet
#

1200 here I think

gilded nova
#

LGA775 is the GOAT dont @ me

#

Is the i7 5820k still a good option these days? Or is it too old?

lofty compass
#

6000 and 7000 series are interchangeable

gilded nova
#

and 7&8 i think

lofty compass
#

So is 8 and 9

violet rivet
#

478 or nothing

lofty compass
#

Nah its 6 and 7

violet rivet
#

If an i7 2600 was fine for me for like 8 years a 5th gen should be no issues

gilded nova
#

6&7 8&9 yeah

lofty compass
#

You had to Google

#

Lol

gilded nova
#

I actually didnt hit up the goog 🤔
