all /spawnpoint does is makes it act like you slept in bed. so if your config is setup to respawn you at your bed location first, then it will always happen. look in your config to change how respawns are handled.

Vanilla minecraft only has /setworldspawn
So /setspawn is a plugin command
And if you use Essentials, then /setspawn can be overritten by any plugin using the same command

you want to do /setworldspawn and /setspawn in the spot you want people to spawn in at. but you also need to go into the config and tell it to spawn/respawn people at the spawn and not their bed or home.
dont use /spawnpoint unless you are wanting to change your own personal bed location

ive tried with my main and alt, the main has auto and the alt doesnt
make sure you are on the latest version of cmi though
they are always fixing things
and if the respawn is an issue, open up a issue on github so its fixed.

i opened one when the stairs, steps and carpet stopped working for seats and it was fixed
its a perm
so if you have cmi.* then you have it
i cant access spigot at work to check the perm, but if you go to the wiki section, you can search on the perms page for "auto" and it should come up
then just set that as false for you or your group
i do love that plugin though, over all

i notice you said earlier !warp did you put the ! before or after the word "warp"?
also, the spawn may be case sensitive, so double check that you have it set the exact same as how the warp is named
