drowsy quest
#

One of them

grave summit
#

Okay

#

Am I actually allowed to try to brute force it?

drowsy quest
#

Yes

#

SSH is running on the default port 22

grave summit
#

Am I allowed to try to get in via other methods?

drowsy quest
#

As long as you stick to SSH sure

grave summit
#

Okay....

#

Wouldn't my IP get in trouble?

drowsy quest
#

Don’t think so

#

It’ll only get banned on port 22

#

And that only for an hour iirc

grave summit
#

Would my ISP allow me to try and hack it?

drowsy quest
#

Sure

grave summit
#

I just wanna be careful. That's all

drowsy quest
#

ISPs can only reliably detect (D)DoS attacks

#

Everything else is seen as normal traffic

#

SSH is encrypted too

#

So you could be trying to transfer small files

#

No way to differentiate that

#

Also what other methods were you trying to do?

grave summit
#

I was asking. I haven't even gotten Kali yet. I'm about to download it. I am going to learn.

drowsy quest
#

Ok

#

Port scanning is perfectly legal btw

#

And you won’t find many services being open anyways

grave summit
#

There's these two really annoying kids in my IT class . 90% of the class hates them (Them being that 10%). And they lie through their teeth about being able to do hacking, coding java and C. I'm usually ahead of my class.

#

The reason I know their lying is because I have corrected them 99.7% of the time on everything they say.

drowsy quest
#

Lol

grave summit
#

They say that Linux is a OS for hardcore people.

drowsy quest
#

Kinda

#

XD

grave summit
#

Linux is a kernel dumbasses

#

OS's get built around it.

drowsy quest
#

Depends. The distros are usually referred to as Linux

#

Even though that isn’t correct

grave summit
#

They said that they know how to hack. I ask if they've heard of Kali Linux and they are like "What's that"

#

After a while they accept

drowsy quest
#

You don’t need it to hack though

grave summit
#

And tell me to shut up

drowsy quest
#

I mean I know they’re lying but you gotta be fair

grave summit
#

Ik that. But they barely know how to code. I get A's, they don't really so so great.

drowsy quest
#

I don’t even have a Kali VM

grave summit
#

I've only gotten one B

#

And that assignment was on Artificial intelligence, in games

drowsy quest
#

That’s my favorite topic

#

And now it’s not XD

grave summit
#

It was last minute assignment

#

?

#

I am genuinely interested in AI

#

Which is why illuminate is hopefully going to be able to chat with you.

drowsy quest
#

AI? Yes please
game AI? I couldn’t care less

#

XD

grave summit
#

Would you like to be a supporter of Illuminate?

#

As in, beta test it?

drowsy quest
#

Never heard of it

grave summit
#

I'm hurt

#

Can I invite you to a discord

drowsy quest
#

Maybe later lol

grave summit
#

Damnit.

#

It's a Google home replacement

#

Going to be coded in C++.

#

Optimised for small systems like raspberry pi Zero.

drowsy quest
#

Ah. I see

#

So have you heard of ANNI?

grave summit
#

Nope

drowsy quest
#

That’s my current attempt at getting a neural network to play chess and board games in general

#

Because iirc illuminate is a pet project of yours 😛

grave summit
#

Iirc?

#

iirc*

drowsy quest
#

If I recall correctly

grave summit
#

What's it mean

#

And yes illuminate is a side project.

drowsy quest
#

iirc = if I recall correctly

grave summit
#

Oh

#

What's ANNI going to be coded in?

drowsy quest
#

C++

#

What else? ;P

#

Btw it’s a mixture of AI and NN (neural network)

grave summit
#

XD

#

Would you suggest I make a neural network for illuminate or just an ai

drowsy quest
#

So it literally stands for Artificial Neural Network Intelligence

#

You have no chance of getting a NN good enough to process language on a RasPi 0

#

These beasts are heavy

grave summit
#

But

#

What if I made it piggy back a Linux server

drowsy quest
#

Chess requires a few thousands or millions of nodes

grave summit
#

I'd just need to get the go ahead from cfire.

drowsy quest
#

Language processing that actually can genuinely understand the human language needs billions

#

If you have the RasPi work as a front end node it’s something different

grave summit
#

Ok, explain it in simplified nighko

drowsy quest
#

If you have a backend server that does the heavy lifting it’ll work

#

If not, you don’t have a chance

grave summit
#

Uhhh.....

#

I have a chance of getting a heavy lifting server

drowsy quest
#

A RasPi 3 is barely enough to do real time language transcription

grave summit
#

Only if I make the AI first.

#

If I get the main chunk of illuminate done

#

I know some people who might be interested

#

It's a large might

drowsy quest
#

Oh. And don’t try to reinvent the wheel

#

Use existing libraries

#

There really good ones out there regarding speech recognition

#

Etc

grave summit
#

I won't try to reinvent the wheel

#

Well, not unless I'm going to commercialize it

#

But I wont

#

So, would you like the beta test illuminate

#

I've probs already asked you.

drowsy quest
#

But speech recognition/transcription is ridiculously complicated and CPU intensive. I’m to this date amazed how companies like apple and amazon manage to handle the global load so effectively

#

I don’t want to know how big their server centers for just speech recognition are

#

Because they are NN based. Based on the quality

#

I can test it

grave summit
#

Okay.

#

What would you suggest for a nn

#

What specs as a min

#

Brainy?

drowsy quest
#

Sorry

#

Went to the bathroom

#

Depends on what the NN is supposed to do

grave summit
#

Speech

#

Try to have a half decent convo

drowsy quest
#

For real time Speech recognition and processing, try an average intel desktop CPU

#

Like an i3

#

Or equivalents

#

RAM won’t be an issue

#

1-2 GB should do

grave summit
#

Could I run it on a 4 year old i3 8gb ram 600gb space laptop?

drowsy quest
#

Should be enough

#

To get real time results

grave summit
#

Okay

#

I just thought of something hillarous

#

Is that how you say it...

drowsy quest
#

What’s that?

grave summit
#

Hil air ious.....

#

Yep

#

Itbis

#

I just thought of getting a decent company in in this. Obviously wont happen. But won't hurt to try.

drowsy quest
#

Yeah

#

Good luck with that

grave summit
#

Good luck

#

I'm gonna need more than that

#

I'm gonna need at least god on my side.

drowsy quest
#

I just want to eventually compete in the Computer Chess world championship

#

Or at least the qualifications

grave summit
#

What you need it to do is make it put the other robot / AI down.

#

Confuse it

#

So irregular patterns

drowsy quest
#

Chess doesn’t work like that

grave summit
#

Do*

drowsy quest
#

It’s a perfect information game

#

There are objectively best moves in many cases

#

Well in fact in all

#

The difficulty is finding it as fast as possible

grave summit
#

Is it possible to do moves that will render the other AI confused. Something that the coders didn't expect.

drowsy quest
#

Nope

#

It used to

#

But since computers can easily fully analyze the current position 20+ moves in the future there is no way

grave summit
#

What if the other could predict 4000+

#

Ik probs impossible

drowsy quest
#

You can’t

grave summit
#

I threw a random number

drowsy quest
#

Like you’d need several universes just to get enough matter to build enough memory

#

The trick is improving the evaluation function and improving the branch search

#

So you can go deeper faster

grave summit
#

Okay

#

I gotta go check the tail lights. Brb

drowsy quest
#

NN based chess engines significantly decrease the search depth in favor of massively improving their evaluation function

#

Like a NN is much more capable at deciding who’s better in a position than a formula devised by humans

grave summit
#

I need to check the tail lights. Can I please go now.

drowsy quest
#

Meaning the more time spent on analyzing any given projected position is much more worth it than checking many positions

#

NO 😡

#

You can’t leave!

grave summit
#

Do you know what checking the tail lights entails

drowsy quest
#

Nope XD

grave summit
#

I need to go

#

To

#

The

#

Toilet

drowsy quest
#

But anyways just go lol

grave summit
#

Must be an Aussie thing.

drowsy quest
#

I mean you can’t go. You gotta shit your pants

#

There is no other wat

#

Way

grave summit
#

Why are public toilets never clean

drowsy quest
#

Idk

#

But you get what I’m saying in terms of why NN engines are better?

potent prawn
#

they're never clean because they are public toilets

What's an aura plugin

grizzled oak

Something to manage player aura (ie, glowing).

I understand the /effect scoreboard implementation. Looking for something with more.

lost geyser
#

Does anyone know if nether portals conflict in Java minecraft? I know they do in console.

drowsy quest
#

Conflicting in what sense?

lost geyser
#

Like in console if you place two portals too close together you end up only with one portal working in the overworld.

#

And whats the aether world in Minecraft?

lunar night
#

You can usually add ?useSSL=false after the database name to fix that. no spaces.

#

I have a plugin that's doing that on my bungee, and i've no clue where it comes from since I changed all my SSL settings a while back.

gilded nova
#

I thought the aether world was fake

grizzled oak
#

Aether (and Aether 2) are sky world mods, with new blocks and items. Forge enabled.

gilded nova

Oh I meant without mods

lost geyser
#

Does anyone use sticky pistons on worldguard? Can't get the sticky pistons to push or retract a block in a protected region.🤔

gilded nova
#

What is it fir

Try interact allow

lost geyser
#

@gilded nova Didn't work

#

Soon as I place a block in front of the piston, the piston doesn't work.

hybrid loom
#

That means, that probably a worldguard-flag is blocking it

lost geyser
#

Build:deny and passthrough:deny are the only two.

hybrid loom
#

build is blocking it

#

passthrough is enough to prevent players from building

lost geyser
#

Build isn't blocking it

#

I've done build: allow and its not build that's blocking it

#

Oh its land claims. A piston won't move a block outside a land claim.

gilded nova
#

Try going on the conf.yml

lost geyser
#

@gilded nova Can't find anything

#

Looks like I need to set a landclaim where I want the pistons to be. I'm only making a 3x3 piston door.

drowsy quest
#

@lost geyser it’s the same with the Java Edition. Though precise placement makes it work

lost geyser
#

The last piston door I made was on the xboxone...I hope it works on java 😃

drowsy quest

I meant the portals

lost geyser
#

@drowsy quest Ah right.

Well 3x3 piston door works perfect. All from memory as well 😃

So what's this MySQL messaging service you talk about.

leaden ocean

you know how when you change a permission on a bungeecord network, and if you set the messaging-service to bungee it pings the others server to update?

grave summit

Yes

Exactly like that but through MySQL?

it's essentially the same, but it would ping all servers connected to that database

pastel grail
#

FTB Utils are a forge way of doing some level of permission control @grave summit & @hybrid loom

now as we know most servers use sponge FTB Utils causes more issues then what it solves

#

Hell there is even an old legacy major bug in FTB Utils in 1.7.10 that blantley refuses to be looked at by the devs - even back when 1.7.10 was still considered mainstream before forge dev team declared it to be End of Life

grave summit
#

Ok

#

And what is sponge

#

Jk jk

#

I know

#

What's better in your opinion spanner?

#

Sponge or spigot

pastel grail
#

Personally - I prefer modded. But that is just me. I have the hardware to be able to play modded. But the crux is that anything above 1.7.10 modded is beyond the average vanilla minecraft player as they are usually on a laptop with some sort of low end/old intel hd graphics system

#

you can check that for yourself, do a search for any sort of laptop in the $300 - $500 (AUD for anyone else reading this) range. 99% of those will be using some sort of Intel HD graphics system. Maybe some sort of AMD hybrid system but it will be so low that it will be in the same class as those Intel ones

grave summit
#

My laptop is crap

#

It cost $1000 though

#

And only got bought last year

2.5ghz dual core

Maybe 2.0 actually

pastel grail
#

See that is my point - that is the typical laptop that the average aussie has. regardless if it was paid for back when the aussie government had the educational grants

grave summit
#

The laptop is being paid for by my parents.

#

But I could get a gaming PC that's a lot better then my laptop that would cost the same.

#

Maybe even less

pastel grail
#

And that is why I keep telling my mate that he should just get desktop computers for his daughters cause it will cost less, they wouldn't be up until gods knows what hour of the night as the desktops will be in the common area and its easier to replace a $15 keyboard then trying to fix a keyboard on a laptop 😛 and cheaper/quicker

@unique fable I've had many experiences with sellers refusing to sell to Australians. Too many. In fact I think since the Valve LLC vs ACC court battle it will drop to none. Sellers are too use to getting away with being able to rip off consumers and getting away with it.

Hey everyone.

I thought I'd turn to the awesome community here for advice.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way of monitoring bungeecord and connected spigot servers through a Windows app.

I can use the Multicraft Control Panel that my host offers but it means having 7 tabs open and I can't see all console outputs

potent prawn
#

Assuming your host won't give you SSH access, I think you'll be out of luck there.

#

I could be wrong though. Haven't dealt with shared hosting in a long time.

grave summit
#

Maybe using rcon

#

Idk if bungee had that though

potent prawn
#

Actually, this won't work for Bungee, but you could install DiscordSRV on each Spigot server and sync your console logs to a channel on a Discord server @ebon bramble

grave summit
#

Might not be practical
There are a few minor
Monitoring programs out there, but I can't remember the names.

#

On a quick Google search there seems to be a bungee rcon plugin

#

Anyone know how to turn off ghast explosions but keep ghast damage to players in the nether?

viral fog
#

Use world guard

#

And turn off mob grief

#

For ghast

potent prawn
#

ghast-fireball affects terrain and players unfortunately

lost geyser
#

@viral fog I would have to worldguard the entire netherworld, right?

potent prawn
#

no, you can use the __GLOBAL__ region

#

that's two underscores, either side.

hybrid loom
#

Or just __global__ 😉

#

without caps 😛

lost geyser
#

Ah so /rg flag global ghast-block-damage deny

hybrid loom
#

yup

lost geyser
#

Ill try that

#

🙂

#

That didn't work

#

A region hasn't been defined

hybrid loom
#

Output of the command?

#

That's strange

lost geyser
#

I dunno

hybrid loom
#

/rg flag __global__ ghast-block-damage deny should work....

#

Because WorldGuard always has a global-region, which is basicly the entire world

lost geyser
#

Doesn't work for me

hybrid loom
#

Then you maybe have no permission, or something else is wrong

lost geyser
#

It needs a region to be defined. The ouput says "nosuch region as "global

potent prawn
#

you're using four underscores, not two, right?

#

_ _global_ _ without the spaces

lost geyser
#

one underscore each side

potent prawn
#

has to be two

hybrid loom
#

That's the issue

#

Just copy-paste the command

lost geyser
#

The put put of that was a list of flags in red and grey

hybrid loom
#

That means, that this flag you used doesn't exist

#

iirc is there something like ghast-fireball or something like that

lost geyser
#

Let me check

#

Yeah ghast-fireball

#

So /rg flag global ghast-fireball-damage deny

potent prawn
#

/rg flag __global__ ghast-fireball deny

#

leave out the damage part

lost geyser
#

Yes! It worked

#

But does that mean that the ghast doesn't attack players?

hybrid loom
#

It still attacks them

#

But the fireball doesn't make damage to the nether

lost geyser
#

Oh good 👍

#

Thanks for the help @hybrid loom

hybrid loom
#

you should thank @potent prawn

potent prawn
#

do you want it to hurt the players?

lost geyser
#

Oh yeah thanks @potent prawn

#

Hurt players yeah

potent prawn
#

ok, you might want to undo that flag and go into the WorldGuard config.yml file and change block-fireball-block-damage to true

#

would have suggested this sooner but I only just found it

hybrid loom
#

uhm....

lost geyser
#

Ah right I can do that.

hybrid loom
#

The ghast will still shoot fireballs, but they don't damage the nether/world @potent prawn

potent prawn
#

yeah but that also disables damage to players, and @lost geyser wants players to be damaged by them still.

hybrid loom
#

not that I know

#

iirc does the fireball still damage to players.

#

nvm.

lost geyser
#

I already had that set to true in the WG config file anyway: block-fireball-block-damage: true

#

So I just need to unflag now

potent prawn
#

Their current documentation is very vague about the flag: Whether ghast fireballs can do damage
Wheras their old documentation is a little more useful: Allow or block fireballs damage to terrain and players.

lost geyser
#

@potent prawn I forgot how to delete flags. Is it /rg flag <regionname> delete?

potent prawn
#

I actually don't think you can delete flags with commands, you can set it to allow though

#

or just go into the regions.yml file and remove it, then /rg reload

lost geyser
#

deny/allow won't work because you are just setting anothe flag.

#

I could go into regions.yml yeah Ill try that

hybrid loom
#

@lost geyser @potent prawn Just set the flag without anything (so no allow or deny)

#

/rg flag <region or __global__> <flag>

#

That will unset it

lost geyser
#

Gonna have to wait cannot login to my panel 😦

#

I'll try /rg flag <region or global> <flag>

hybrid loom
#

Also I give a little pro-tip.
If you have a region in which block-placing/breaking, pvp, ect is blocked and you don't want the "Hey! Sorry, but you can't xxxx" message, set the following flag:
/rg flag <region> deny-message -e
"-e" tells WorldGuard, that this should be empty/not used

potent prawn
#

ahh I didn't know that, cool.

hybrid loom
#

Don't forget to replace the stuff inside the <> with your actual stuff

#

It's just a placeholder, duh

lost geyser
#

/rg flag <region or global> <flag> what is the <flag> for?

hybrid loom
#

The flag you want to be removed

potent prawn
#

/rg flag __global__ ghast-fireball
just copy that

lost geyser

While I agree that asking can be faster than searching, it generally translates to us “Hey. Fuck you and your documentation I can’t be bothered to read”

And once you realize that, if done correctly, searching yourself is hell of a lot simpler than asking, you understand fully why we are so pedantic about the wiki too

Also the right way to ask is “Hey, I’ve read on the wiki to do this command to achieve that. Though this edge case or implemention detail isn’t mentioned”

"trail.all" is the permission to get all the trails and "trail.heart", for example, is the permission to get the heart trail. So the permission in LPs might be: lp group vip permission set essentials.trail.all.trail.heart; trail.magic, etc this means they get the choice of either heart or magic 🤔

I'd be allowed to penetrate my own network if it has access to the internet right?

#

From what you've said, it seems I will be allowed to given that I am the correct owner and have possession of said network

#

but if it is connected to another network in which I do not own, I cant.

The original chat control isnt supported anymore is it

#

idk

#

havent used it in ages

pastel grail
#

it is, but doesn't receive as many updates or attention as the Pro does for obvious reasons

grave summit

Okay

lost geyser
#

Does anyone know whether offering in-game cash to one person from buying a rank is considered "pay-to-win"?

leaden ocean
#

Depends what they can be used for ingame, but this is found on the mojang site

lost geyser
#

So that's no then

#

But players cannot pay-to-win with in-game currency. They can only buy items with it which any player can have access to.

drowsy quest
#

You don’t need to argue with us about whether the EULA makes sense. It’s written very clearly

lost geyser
#

@drowsy quest what do you think about lifetime versus subscription ranks? Is it best to have both?

drowsy quest
#

Idk

#

¯_(ツ)_/¯

#

I’m not a marketing guy

bleak notch
#

@lost geyser you can offer lifetime and timed ranks, the EULA don't tell you you can't do it

#

But giving money with the rank, you can't because this is hardcurrenency

potent prawn
#

@lost geyser I used to do lifetime ranks but you don't make money that way. Monthly subscriptions are the best way to go IMO.

Trying to play loophole with the EULA is just wrong. Yall know whats right and whats wrong :L

viral fog
#

Loop holes in the EULA have to be abused

#

It’s same with the law 😃

I really hope you're not serious.

pastel grail
#

When it comes to shit like this, if you are unsure contact a solicitor in your country. Each country has their owns laws. EULA=! Law. This has been proven time and time again

wicked sapphire
#

@twin warren are you available to talk with me for something? I need some help and some of your knowledge if you can

twin warren
#

sure

#

just ask me here

wicked sapphire
#

oh ok

#

so im managing a server on a big network and i have some issues recently. There are some idiots that they think its funny to ddos the server. This causing my server to not be accessible and players are leaving. Is there any way to prevent those ddos attacks?

twin warren
#

yes, how do you host your server?

wicked sapphire
#

Ehh, its not really my server, im just managing 2 of the gamemodes in this network

#

as i know, we have the network hosted in a company but im not sure on which one

#

the owner said we have ddos protection but as you understand its shitty

twin warren
#

well the simple answer is you switch to a provider which has good ddos protection

#

a lot of servers use OVH

#

because it's a) cheap and b) has decent ddos protection

wicked sapphire
#

Hmm, ill suggest it to change host provider but i was thinking if there's any way that can do it with any plugins or so

twin warren
#

if it's a ddos attack, then no

#

if you're being bot attacked (lots of fake clients trying to connect), then yes there are ways to prevent that

pastel grail
#

DDoS attacks need backbone - plugin cannot migate DDoS

wicked sapphire
#

Well, we have bot attacks too

#

another stupid doing it lately

twin warren
#

solution to that is just to install an anticheat plugin

pastel grail
#

for http/web - cloudflare helps. for bots - anticheat/IP check/VPN filtering

#

but an actual DDoS - need backbone to handle and filter out the excess traffic

wicked sapphire
#

We have anticheat plugins, we have AAC and ncp on hole network

#

But let me explain the situation how im seeing it. because as you may notice, im not that good with those stuff yet and im still learning

#

We playing normally, and suddenly server is starting lagging as hell, cpu is increasing and ram too

#

and makes console not responding

gilded nova
#

Not quite sure that would be a DDoS Attack

#

Network based attacks damage/clusterfuck the networking equipment before they hit the host most of the time

#

eg: The Router, Switch, Firewall, Hub, etc

pastel grail
#

I'd say memory leak of some kind. outside even this discord scope

somber quiver
#

who have good pl for suffix and perfix for a server ?

#

i have a nick plugin

lost geyser
#

@bleak notch It's not hard currency, it's in-game currency that I'm giving. 🙂

leaden ocean
#

The eula states you cannot exchange hard currency for soft currency. Hard currency being real money, and soft currency being in-game currency

grave summit
#

It can be risky to abuse loop holes in the EULA. Because, what if it changed and you were unaware?

#

If the loop hole gets fixed, and your caught. Probably not going to be much fun.

fierce vector
#

there are 3 kinds of servers, thoughs that follow the EULA thoughs that dont and thoughs who think they have found a loop hole and are in denial about breaking it

pastel grail
#

There is a forth, sections of the EULA are illegal (yes actually illegal - check with law firm - cost me a fair amount of $$ too) and are unenforceable without internation legal ramifications. Because of the Steam LLC vs ACCC court case it has set a precidence that no EULA/ToS/etc is enforceable if it conflicts with laws.

rough latch
#

Sounds like someone's in denial that their server violates EULA

gilded nova
#

Anyone good at Denizens?

pastel grail
#

So you beleive that EULA = Law @rough latch ?

rough latch
#

I believe the EULA is what it is, and End User License Agreement, and anyone not willing to agree to it doesn't hold the right to use what it covers

pastel grail
#

Incorrect. There is nothing legally binding with a EULA/ToS. If you think otherwise you haven't kept up with what has happened to Valve https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/full-federal-court-confirms-that-valve-misled-gamers

rough latch
#

You are using a case to punish wrong doings to justify your own wrong doings.. I'm not going to sit here and argue moral ethics with you.

pastel grail
#

This isn't moroality - this is legal. Big difference.

#

Truth be told though I am EULA compliant anyway lol. Us Aussies despise Pay2Win

#

Too many people hold the EULA as a "untouchable holy relect" - which is utter bullshit. The EULA is viewed as a contract (under Australian Federal Law) if that contract forces you to do anything illegal (the wording of the EULA - context matters here) then said contract is null and void, with possible immediate legal rammifactions against the one trying to enforce said contract/EULA/etc

#

With the Valve vs ACCC court case their ToS/Agreement stated that you could not obtain a refund. Under Australian Consumer Law digital goods are considered physical goods and have the same consumer protections. Because the agreement (contract) voilated law the contract becomes null and void - with the legal rammifactions that i mentioned previously and what Valve faced

#

This is why many companies that have actual offices in different contries have different EULA/Agreements based on that country. Take Microsoft and the (back then) EULA when Windows 10 was being given away. The EULA for USA and EULA for Australia were very different. The aussie one had sections in it reinforcing Australian Consumer Law and recognising it within their EULA.

fierce vector
#

spanner its not a 4th i fall into the first catagory and happily break it as i do not belive it has any legal standing, been listning to you to much over the years 😛

#

sorry second catagory

pastel grail
#

hahaha oh I remember you Dez, NZ server?

#

Of course there are ways around the blacklisting too. Actually by default the ATLauncher bypasses the blacklist from what I can remember unless that was changed

fierce vector
#

yea 😃

#

and yes have all the ways around the blacklist

#

but still dont belive it will cometo that we are to small

pastel grail
#

I think most (aka Americans) think that the EULA is law, that it is set in stone. What they have issues trying to understand that the EULA is viewed as a contract in other countries. If that contract is illegal then that contract (EULA) is null and void on the spot. The Valve vs ACCC court case set that precident as well which I think most Americans still don't understand the implications of. Even outside of minecraft but other areas as well

drowsy quest
#

I’m interested though

#

What part of the EULA would go against Australian law, causing it to be void in AUS

#

@pastel grail

#

I mean I’ve read it and there isn’t anything outrageous in there.

pastel grail
#

Well before the Valve vs ACCC court case it was a 50/50 chance of trying to beat it back. But now there is precedence set. The EULA voilates Australian Tax Law (using definition of donation implies non profit org to tax law)

drowsy quest
#

Ah I see. A stupid little detail

pastel grail
#

Still it is enough to make the EULA null and void

drowsy quest
#

Though while I know that EULA isn’t law, while it is valid it still applies and should be respected
