Its no where near as good as and we'll realised as the original
Heavily disagree with 3s being a more personal story as well in 2 we see a man coping after taking revenge for his killed family and that means sometimes diving deep into his own mind
The story is nothing amazing but the self aware writing and the creativity behind how it's shown makes them really good
In 3 Max's dialogue is way more generic his metaphors grimy instead of weirdly thought provoking
Max didn't swear much in the originals you can explain thata as Brazil effect doesn't make sense when you consider he swears a lot in the flashback

It has simmy elements yes. While the term gets misused a lot, it does take inspiration from those games mentioned. Unlike traditional boomer shooter type of games, aces allows you to do things multiple ways and it's up to player how they want to do things. Including doing objectives in whatever wayey wish. You can choose which paths you can take a sequence break things.
It relies on systems driven gameplay. So if you kick an enemy into some fire, other things that are flammable will combust as well.
Example of playing your own way: say there is a door you need to go through to progress, you can find a key for it, smash it down, kick an enemy through it, shoot it, light it on fire, blow it up, find another way around to unlock it from the other side.
The only thing you can't really do is pick up random objects and throw them. You can however, pick up random objects and use them as weapons and throw them.

It really comes down to your own interpretation, I would argue yes it is, imsim fans would probably argue no because it's not System Shock 3.
They expect it play exactly like System Shock 2 or Thief, instead it's doing it's own thing.
