The thing that makes most sense to me, is that the nightmare that John had for Chapter 2 is the Unseen world.
However, the one where he saw Amy, in chapter 2 where he read the note, would seem like he was manipulated or something, or he was in the Unseen world.
The possibility that he was at the Candy Tunnel, while waking up and appearing at his home doesn't make sense.
I believe, that the Unseen world has a play in chapter 2, specifically With John and Garcia.
Or most likely John.

anyway, potentially the driver either didn't see, feel, or even care that he hit something. if he did know he hit something, he could've brushed it off as just an animal and just kept going. there are many reasons why the driver might not have stopped. not everything is connected to the cult lol. but we also don't get to see if the driver ever ends up stopping AFTER he hits john or michael. the screen we play on is relatively small lol. plus, consider how dark that road is. there are no street lamps. he could've just simply NOT seen something suddenly coming onto the road

as for the dream, it's a manifestation of john's subconcious, his inner turmoil. he's starting to question himself and has a lot of doubt about his own sanity. thus you have the note accusing him of murdering those people. it's himself being skeptical of his own actions. like he asks in one of the endings, "did i REALLY do the right thing?"

Many things in chapter 2 didn't feel like it was a dream, or a manifestation of John's subconsciousness.
Especially when he visited the Churchill of whatever Its name was. How would he be able to conjure such information with his dream?

Either he must have visited it, and gone through the same experience, excluding the part where there was Amy.
