So like, i finally got AE (And Ion Maiden on top of that), haven't even posted here in quite some time. I have yet to play it fully beyond launching and testing the options. Are there any plans for other AA methods? FXAA looks like crap, Temporal is better but it blurs out everything with a stable picture. No AA has a lot of shimmering since everything seems to be unfiltered (I know, i know aesthetics, but still). Also, is UE4 really that unfriendly when doing custom content/maps?

Maybe it's just how the game renders stuff. I can live with temporal, but if more things come along the way, then great. The first impression i got is that the contrast seems way to high and the whole screen seems rather very busy or messy, but the levels themselves don't have that much detail. In fact, they are very clear with sharp lines and defined geometry which i like. Maybe i just need to get used to it after coming from Dusk

Most AA will still leave the 'shimmering', because it doesn't affect the textures, only the edge of models

#

TAA and FXAA fix that because they just make everything blurry pretty much, if there were the 'better' AA effects attached to it you'd still have the sharp, unfiltered textures to deal with for the most part

Yeah, i pretty much used FXAA for non-edge filtering in some games, such as Doom Source Ports. Temporal removes the shimmering altogether, at the cost of sharpness

This at least helps on consoles which do not have any post-processing AA or PS3 titles in 720p or sub 720p. IDK how good upscaling looks on HDTVs since i play everything on my monitor. Still, this is going super offtopic from my side

The matter is: the colors on the lower screenshot could be seen EVEN before the latest update in the windowed mode

But in fullscreen it looked like on the upper one

But now both Fullscr. and win-modes give you the lower variant of palette

I presume that is somehow due to either UE4 shit, or the one weird bug after the latest update

The bug makes the game launch in some kinda borderless mode, so maybe it does some stuff to the colors

The game starts in borderless, which is the default selected option. Switching it to fullscreen actually makes it fullscreen (but the game sets it to windowed in options, however it isn't windowed), and if you set it manually to windowed, it is still borderless, but not fullscreen (renders the desktop, fast switching between apps) the colour itself is exactly the same on all the options.

Well, considering my monitor cuts sound when switching between the game and desktop, i think it is fullscreen (Display Port) but HDMI acts the same way, can't remember for DVI. If the transition is smooth, then it is rendered on top of the desktop

But i can't give much info since i didn't play it much apart from just testing the game. The first level looks normal to me. Maybe it should look different, but it does look vibrant

tfw you randomly click on things. Higher res is not a solution to the problem, having AA is like having higher res but that depends on the option of the power of 2 you are using. Around same performance hit on my end. The last patch noted of an update to ue 4.19, and that's highly likely the reason it looks different (unless leon is hiding something :))

Just tried to reproduce the bug, and yes - after running out of green mana and having no red mana, it switches to the Trident and it shoots like in a non-soul mode, but that happens only if I hold fire button

I still think it's weird that people have been complaining about AE not having enough enemy variety when Heretic had like, 4 enemies that got recycled for 80% of the game and the ones that weren't tended to be reskins with more health
