Dont even try comparing blood's extra crispy with Dusk's duskmare. Blood is so full of bs it starts being frustrating from minute 1
you can compare to duskmare, but only because duskmare is supposed to be a challenge mode in and of itself

with a huge flood of enemies
the levels where the game gets stuttery can prove to be a nightmare honestly, since hitting the headshots get tougher

idk about you but i hardly ran out of shotgun ammo even if i was using it over 60% of my playthrough
Also the fact that it the AR hitstuns well would make it powerful enough
But yet it also kills within one or two seconds so it doesn't matter

the AR is a gap closer for when you're outside shotgun range
I felt like it wanted to be the solution for everything, rather than something that's useful in specific situations.
Holding the fire button is pretty much unviable unless your target takes up at least a quarter of your screen
I still miss the og machine gun firerate
If I'll be able to make mods I might make one that simply lowers AR damage and ammo count and perhaps make its spread less ridiculous so that holding become somewhat useful.
That way it'd still have a reliable tap fire, a usable spray, a moderate damage output and great hitstunning
I'm talking like -20% damage and 20 cartridges per pickup rather than 24, and roughly half the spread diameter
I'd rather guns feel uniquely useful than equally useless

Usually there's like, health items in the secrets though
So arguably the cigar could be used during combat too

Enemies that primarily use melee always intimidate me more than those that have range

The thing with melee enemies is more that they are aggressive
And they can limit movement pretty well
It's not necessarily because of the fact that they use melee, it's more because of the other possible traits associated with melee enemies
Also perhaps it's partly because of me being a bit careless with them

I haven't played Dusk since the SDK dropped, but I played through the actual campaign in and out. Is there anything new I can look forward to if I boot up the game again?

Pretty much the only switch I've found in the game that can't be activated by shooting says "Do not touch"
So it actually might be the only one in the game that you have to touch
The parts that run the worst in Dusk for me are the intro cinematics for the episodes. They get choppy.
yeah those run at like 5 fps for me for seemingly no reason
Now I expect to be able to climb up 89 degree slopes in every game
Maybe playing without crosshair and with autoaim off is a bit too much for me.

Playing dusk again, without secrets. Interesting experience so far, you can appreciate even more how well balanced is the whole thing.
Without secrets should always be how its played the first time around imo

My 2nd run was my 100% run
ep1s balancing makes more sense when you skip secrets
I'm probably never gonna do an 100% run. even on intruder mode there's little reason to do so other than the badge of 100%.
still think we shouldnt have had all the weapon available in ep1 but w/e
yeah e1 is a bit easy unless you're doing duskmare
the only level I struggled with intruder mode ciero miedo in that episode is The Cutty Mines because I just cannot find many secrets in that level, and I found that level really starves the player of ammo otherwise
e1m2 is the biggest offender in terms of progression

On my first run I'm cautious and think because I have no idea what's about to happen
There were a few parts where I may have been a bit too cautious.
Um right now I can think of two places with spinny blades.
But no, neither of them.
Actually, perhaps Erebus Reactor was the only part where I feel like I was a bit too cautious and it ended up being a bit boring.
I would usually lure the enemies out and then jump to the top of the arena where they couldn't reach me and shot them from there basically
Though I recently reran Episode One and I did pretty much the same thing on Sawdust
I utilise Duskdude's outstanding ability to run away a lot
The game has two weapons that are incredibly good at long range, and all enemies have bad range, so increasing the distance is rewarding
But even if the game didn't give me ammo for them I would probably just circle around the dudes to group them together so that they became manageable
And/or began infighting, which is always great.
In my yesterday's rerun of E1, I found out this is pretty satisfying to do on Dead of The Night right when the level begins, especially with the music.
And the map gives you the crossbow so making the things group up is extra rewarding.
Pretty much my only motivation for trying reruns is that I kind of want to do some HQ playthrough video. No commentary, loud music, pacing, pretending not to know everything about the maps so that it feels immersive, idk
but that would be pretty cool
This game actually looks gorgeous and very crisp at 1080p without pixelation
I mean, pixelation is a cool option but the crispness comes across better at a proper resolution

I originally played on vivid but later I wanted to get closer to the default. And I still like a tiny bit of extra saturation so I kept 25%

One thing that messes with me is that the sliders will set weird fractional values rather than pretty numbers
It displays 0.1 when it's actually 0.103
Or 0.103781 or something
