yo me and a friend discussed like whether Dusk 2 would go the unreal route instead of the quake route

and with the intruder now being possessed by a lovecraftian god it'd make sense if the weapons became crazier (two firing modes - the unreal route)

one weapon we discussed was your typical lightning gun but rightclicking makes the beam turn to a tentacle that then yoinks your enemy towards you

another weapon we discussed was a rocket launcher but the rocket is made of flesh and the explosion is a bunch of tentacles going everywhere from a single point, and rightclicking while the projectile is midair makes a tentacle protrude from the projectile and grab the nearest surface, which makes the "rocket" change direction to said surface instantly

with the two mentioned weapons, could even have a entire third mode that is not dependent on the primary fire being pressed first

#

like the rocket launcher secondary fire could be a flesh grenade and the lightning gun could be an acid spray, and while firing said acid spray if you clicked primary fire said acid spray could light on fire

#

so like 3 different firing types in 1 weapon, with the capability of yoinking your enemies towards you for a shotgun blast to the face

I did that one the other way around
Since you don't have to actually go to the secret level for it to register, you just have to go into the area
So once it registers, you can go kill the 2 flying ball monsters and finish the level like normal and get completionist

and, being honest, unity's vulkan implementation is not very good, so while its possible we experiment with it, its unlikely it will be stable enough for a release

There are a handful of other games outside of idtech 6 that make good use of vulkan but as far as I understand, it's pretty difficult to work with on its own compared to OpenGL. I gather UT4 doesn't really deal with it well, shame to hear the same's true for Unity.

@ebon radish to give you an idea, Vulkan is an open source, performant, parallel, cross-platform 3D graphics API by the Kronos group, it's sort of seen as the successor to OpenGL but isn't designed to replace it completely.

Only issue is that it's complex as fuck to use as it is (something like 800 lines of code to draw a triangle), though popular game engine Vulkan implementations (save for UE4) have been steadily improving.

It may be bugged. There was a patch to fix it a while back, but it might not of tracked the progress you made before that, sorry to say.

If you've already gotten them all legit, you could go back and beat them again using cheats so it will be faster to trigger the achievement.

I think some of the achievements broke recently, you could probably revert to an older version of the game using the Steam dev console, or use Steam Achievement Manager to unlock them manually

Another thing I realized is that I really like weapon categories in Half-Life 2

HL1 has them too, but they are more manageable in HL2

Also you can customise them in UT I think, at least in the new one that got dumped by Epic for Fortnite and isn't played by anyone pretty much

The riveter should have priority over the mortar, though.

It's fun when you don't have to think about weapon swtching. That is, the switching itself.

It's better when it's an instant rather than a chore on its own.

Being able to switch to the weapon you want to switch to instantly just feels great.

One thing that bothers be is that the weapons are numbered in the HUD

y'all have no excuse. I straight up use q for primary fire, 1-9 for weapon selection, my mouse for jumping, and keys like l, n, and m for everything else
