I'm on E2M3 now, picking off targets with the hunting rifle. There's a whole lot of BANG!, "teehee!" one-shot kills, even flamethrower dudes.

There's some misconception of what SDK means. It's not a level editor. Trenchbroom will always fill that role. Dawn SDK is the thing that allows you to mod dusk

i like the retro color pallete+3 0r 4 on pixelization sometimes manually swapping colors can make certain areas feel more "extreme" i forget what i had but it made the e3m2 area feel really hot and dangerous then used the cold pallete above ground to make it feel frigid

I've seen quite a bit of discussions regarding mapping, but how will the code & assets be shipped for mods, any ideas?
They'd probably be integrated with the SDK.
For example, the SDK will have 3 sections - The map editor, the models, and then the textures. The map editor will have all of the necessary functions you see in the game itself, like door opens, triggers that do things, weapons, etc.
The models and textures are exactly as it sounds

The SDK itself is not a map editor, it is moreso the ability to load levels that are made with an external editor (eg, TrenchBroom)
patch changelog is just fixing some localization strings, and a door in e2m2
The SDK is a culmination of:
- An update to the game that allows it to load custom content
- A launcher/management tool for making mods (a la Source SDK)
- The release of the game-specific source code (the "real" SDK) which can be modified
- A full source code release (for those who want to contribute additional modding features, or make their own games)

You can use any Quake (or Quake 3) editor with Dusk, because it loads the same map format

and David and Dave have never really given any details or explanation on anything plot-wise, and the comic was considered totally non-canon and then eventually for some reason semi-canonical
However I don't really see any other logical method as to why he'd end up there unless he was abducted by the cult because Nyarla sensed a potential "worthiness" in him or something
It's possible the good ol' Crawling Chaos had Dusk Dude kidnapped, but you know, it's always wise to remember Carmack's words about plots in these kind of games

I telefragged the final boss of Episode 2 last night. All 17,000 of its HP were gone in an instant. That was one of those "WTF? Awesome!" moments.
It left a big ol' pile of red mush in that circular area with the two portals.
I swear it was by complete fucking accident. I didn't think to do it. It just sorta happened.
It was satisfying as fuck when the thing just went SPLAT! all over the damn place.

Could it be that some minor unintended changes got introduced with the latest build? i.e. 4/5 wizards didn't gib after beating ||Jakob|| Also, when trying to use the flashlight in E3M10, it now says "The fall broke your flashlight" instead of "It gives no illumination" Just super minor stuff but wondering whether it's supposed to be like that...

the most fun I had was weaving between boneball projectiles
like I was some touhou champ
it's mainly fun when there are multiple of them
even though they tend to take eachother out
I would like to see an endless mode where enemies can't hurt eachother
so that boneballs would be an actual threat and not a "oh cool boneballs are murdering everything for me"
it's weird because it almost feels like the more overwhelming a single enemy's attack is the less it takes to dodge its projectiles
boneballs but their projectiles shoot as fast as soldiers

@violet sand splash damage doesn't kill you instantly on duskmare, that's why you don't get oneshotted by mamas most of the times

@tropic blaze I was trying to be sneaky in THE DIG earlier and lure a cowgirl out of this room and use pillars for cover but shoot through with the crossbow. I see her walk around one pillar in front of me and it takes a while for her to come around so im like ????. Yo I was recently doing a 100% all soap Cero Meido run of the game and I was missing enemies in the Cutty Mines, I heard breathing and I knew it was just a couple. Scouring the corners of the map I'm slowly tracking down the source of the noise, I enter one of the larger rooms and approach a wall from which the breathing was getting louder and louder. Suddenly the wall flings open and two leather necks rev their chainsaws sprinting towards me, meanwhile my mouse is across my desk and my headphones are on the floor. Man I love Dusk
