I have some other minor suggestions but they're mainly to do with setting up the project
absolutely anything you can tell me will be useful. this is the first time I setup anything in C#
I'd suggest migrating the csproj files to the new .NET Core format, and then redirect the framework folder to the game's Managed folder
which will ensure you don't use any types/features not available in the libraries shipped with Dusk
for example:
the FrameworkPathOverride line
will check it out, that would probably have saved me a lot of headaches with missing methods
you could change that to <FrameworkPathOverride>$(SteamApps)common\Dusk\Dusk_Data\Managed</FrameworkPathOverride>
and then you have two options when building:
- Set an environment variable called
SteamAppsthat points to your steamapps folder - Build with
dotnet build -c Release -p:SteamApps=path/to/folder
Although perhaps calling it SteamApps would be wrong since there can be multiple
so maybe <FrameworkPathOverride>$(DuskDir)Dusk_Data\Managed\</FrameworkPathOverride>
Here I'll fork the project and make a few changes, then submit a pull request

Not much you can do about that, it's just because those are assemblies that are referenced by default (part of "stdlib" you could say), but aren't included with Dusk
If you wanted you could add <NoStdLib>True</NoStdLib> under <PropertyGroup> in the .csproj files
which would do it
Since the standard dlls get referenced by the wildcard <Reference>
yeah, I don't see the point of keeping the stdlibs if they're not going to be resolved anyways
Main reason I excluded NoStdLib is because iirc it causes problems with JetBrains Rider (another C# IDE)

I don't understand. There is no XP, Level Ups, perk and other that kind of stuff which you can carry on to NG+
maybe you start with all the weapons.

so can we ever expect a short list of the guaranteed ways to get the medals ingame, im still skeptical that using crossbow and sword only will give you low tech because after 20 or so tries on e3m10 it has not given it to me once

well if you cant damage enemies then it should be possible, as long as you sword down jakob and use sword pokes to kill nyar, and shoot open the holes without hitting him

even if you shoot nyar while hes invincible on accident you wont lose out of the low tech, just as long as you dont do any damage with a gun to him or jakob

Hell the Mortar shined brighter than the sun when I used it against Jakob.

Mortar spam is life. I like unpredictable and surprising weaponry.
Also I found it was excellent for clearing hallways of bads. Especially if you've got a good angle to funnel explosives into it. I use it a bit like the hornet gun from Half Life 1.
pistols are good for wizards and soldiers

they rarely seem to do their barf attack when i run into them
they end up eating two SSG bursts and turn into a pile of red goop
pretty sure the mortar projectiles can travel faster than rivets
if you got max bhop and shoot it forwards
since mortar carries the players momentum
much like HL1's grenades
The solders are an absolute pain in the ass on Duskmare.
