Yeah, it depends on the animation. It seems a little arbitrary, but it's such a minor feature that it's okay to me. I just do it when I'm showing off. It's no mighty foot, but it's welcome all the same.

@dusty jetty Big John, unlike the other soldiers in Dusk, was able to partially break free from his demonic possession. Though he lacks the ability to control his body, he can still beg the Dusk Dude to put him out of his misery before he kills more innocent people.
