k installed and tried it out for a while, intruder+duskmare is alright, but would still love a true 'hardcore' permadeath mode where if you die you have to start the whole game again. saves handled ala doom 2016 where it only saves after you finish a level, and deletes the save if you die :p

not in dusk, i got converter and converted blood to quake format. albeit textures do not pick up within quake itself

@remote grove so what i believe what happened is that you hit the end level trigger than ran back out where you can get hit, since theres a fadeout when you finish the last mission of the episode you're still vulnerable to be killed provided you're not in the protective trigger. if you press e you should've been able to restart the level.

@orchid hedge that's the problem. there aren't. Well i mean there is wings3d which is marginally better at getting started, but no, it doesn't hold up to scrutiny whenever you compare it's raw functional to blender
problem is - i'm 3dmax user. i started poking it back in 2006, and never stopped. I did try to migrate to blender in 2014, spend a whole week learning it and even started writing plugin to move some more desired 3dsmax functional to blender (like plane slice, and symmetry+merge). Stopped midway realizing i could spend this time onto more valuable things

gimp is mostly fine after they migrated interface to MDI from ol' *nix multi-window bizzare contraption. albeit it's nowhere near as functional as photoshop. You need 3 tools to replace photoshop. Gimp for touchups, SAI for painting and Aseprite for pixelart.

first of all - i don' think you can even use it's 3d view to select pieces of model still, all workflow is done on remaining 3 UFL panels
there are no extrusions, booleans come as a plugin. in the end - it's a very old editor. it's even worse than fragmotion in some regards.

speaking of which - if you ever digging in old games - you WILL need to use fragmotion at some point. it has one of the most powerful obsolete format convertes within it - exporting between a shitton of old 3d game formats

it's not very useful for anything modelling related. and not very sufficient for animation. however it is godly when you need to convert between a bunch of old formats and keep..at least vertex animations intact
in fact i strongly recommend using poser (older one like poser 6) for animation. but good luck getting it legally. 😄
i mean you can animate in practically everything, including blender and 3dmax. however, poser is so neat in it's cleanlyness. there is a reason why it's been an industry standard for so long
