@burnt salmon Stated at the start of December that they aren't going to make the 2017 release because of Quakecon and PAX aus, before which they figured it'd be out by October this year
The new release window is between February and March with Duskworld going Open Beta in January
However they are likely going to put the game into Early Access and give us Episode 2 once it's finished to keep Valve happy because through direct communication they can tell that Valve is upset with them not having a set release date but also not being in early access but still giving a portion of the game up early.

A game that's perpetually up for preorder with only a release date of "SOON" is pretty weird

@crimson folio Truthfully Early Access is meant for however the dev wants to use it. That's why every EA game has a 'Why Early Access' blurb right on top of the page where the dev explains how they intend to use it. It's highlighted in blue and very hard to miss but for some reason nobody every reads them.

as unprofessionally wrong as the stance is, I'd say fuck their ruminations and dissatisfaction, so what you have an abstract release date, there is still thousands of garbage visuals novels being pumped through their system and ridiculuously priced emotes and backgrounds

don't forget the multitude of abandoned projects that have been sitting in EA for years without being updated. Either way it works out for the end users and it doesn't really effect NB's bottom line so really not really a big deal, it's just a temp label.

I think it will work out well for them and us. I think valve just kind of nudged them towards making a couple extra bucks and that's about it.
