The flip animation on guns doing damage is actually useful because it ends up being faster just mashing that to destroy obstacles and crap than pulling out your sickles or even doing the quick sickle attack
Also a decent finisher if you run out of ammo most of the way through killing something

That's something that I was thinking of, there was a bit of a missed opportunity to have some sort of parry mechanic with the quick melee, I mean sure you can deflect projectiles with the quick melee but it's not like it's actually gonna be usefull in a real firefight. IIRC David made Dusk's maps in a Unity map editor, but you'll have the ability to import Quake mapfiles which allows you to use Quake map editors like Trenchbroom and J.A.C.K.
