I went and played Quake 1 after as a comparison and it made Quake feel slow

probably because some of the quake enemies are super spongy and there is more mazes

while dusk is more open and has less spongier enemies

the first Quake definitely has spongy enemies and the overall movement speed isn't nearly as fast
I personally find they don't nail the speed of strafe jumping until Quake 2 and even then Dusk really opens up the accessibility of the speed by giving you full air control instead of limited control
