Difficulty isn't finalized yet, but I'm very much against boosting enemy health based on difficulty. Likely just change spawns and how much damage enemies do
and more of them?

have the pistol been buffed in resent builds? cause it sucks baaaalls
pretty much yeah
it has a use but its mostly taking out the absic soldiers without sacrificing ammo. if it gets to that point
single pistol is basically for chumps. Duals pistols can be useful for low-tier enemies or doing damage at range before you get the assault rifle / hunting rifle
i feel the hunting rifle shouldnt be used to low end enemies due to the low max amo on it being 15.

will there be a "backback" item in the game that allows you to carry more ammunition?
i doubt it. ammo management is usually a staple of these games
probably not. Ammo limits are high enough that it shouldn't be too much of an issue
it only really becomes an issue if you misuse weaponry

haha yeah, @neat shadow there are pieces of viscera lying around in some parts of the level, and you can cook them for an hp boost
sadly you can't do this with all gibs since gibs are a particle system, but you can do it with ones you find placed in the environment
Pistol is useful to shoot buttons too
So I guessed for the viscera part then, I just need to find how.
come to think of it, I should make the single pistol 100% accurate like the rifle

kind of. Just in the sense that at the start of a level the random generator has a constant seed, so in theory everything (enemy behavior, random box drops, spray patters, etc) will always play out the same given the same player input.

I wanted to keep it, but the reason it worked was because the game was checking for a grounded state every frame and rotating a bit for that frame only, instead of checking for grounded then triggering a rotation. So if you landed on sloped ground the roll would be all messed up and janky.

yeah, I was CONVINCED it couldn't be that, since every button prefab had textures associated with it. I completely forgot that the door had a button on it, despite having to resize/position that button for EVERY SINGLE DOOR I PLACE. I am an idiot :P

the majority of stuff involved with Dusk level creation will be hell for mappers tbh. The eventual level editor will require a lot of streamlining. I definitely expect that to be a post-release feature

Lighting in Dusk uses the emission property of the standard shader to fake light intensity and color, and there's just an array of "nodes" that determine what that intensity/color is, created based on the baked point lights. It turns out that with minimal tweaking, you don't even have to check for walls. It usually gives accurate results even without.
and there's some functionality that may or may not be an actual feature that lets you disable baked lighting and use realtime instead

it'll likely be an on/off switch since adding a slider to the menus is rather complex since I haven't rewritten those systems yet

@thorn trout if you dont mind me asking really quickly. was there any reason you staggered spawns a second apart in endless?
I think at the time I thought it would feel weird for them to all spawn at once, but in the new endless level they all spawn at once and it feels fine, so shrug
was just curious if there was any conscious choice on your part. i think it makes the upper area easier to manage if you start up there. being able to kill off the two soldiers and wizard right before the two scarecrows spawn makes starting up there a viable choice when you're wounded.
