There are multiple reasons that Brutal Doom and Sarge get significant levels of hate.
1. The Brutal Doom community is pretty "infectious" I guess, you get a lot of people nagging mod developers to add support for the mod to their mods, and it's often still pushed for after they've been given a no
2. Sarge used to have racist comments in the mod's code. I honestly think people overreacted about this, it was an offensive joke sure, but I don't see the issue, it wasn't harming anybody (it was a joke, not discrimination of a race)
