At face value there is nothing wrong with it, but all pre-order sales over time count as sales for the first week, which look AMAZING to investors

So publishers push pre-orders hard and have devs hold back content that could easily be in the game as "pre-order bonuses"

Sometimes it gets worse like with EA recently, with BF1. People who pre-ordered the more expensive version got to play a few days before release as well

The community is still there, waiting for the game to be good, but they are all silently brooding and complaining to each other

I think concurrent players are in the 20s when it only launched a few months ago
