One thing is certain: Its totally possible to do some complete mods without rewriting large portions of the game: BallisticNG is Unity and has lots of modding support

However, i would go for actual entity creator instead of using existing monsters
Perhaps a monster base in which you can implement your own features based on game's existing ones (simple stuff like creating entities instead of bullets, new behaviour based on existing ones, and blablabla)

I don't have a better idea, i mean, im used to GMod's lua, but with lua you can recode entire parts. For the moment im thinking of a simple way to keep fans busy just so you guys can create a "DUSK:Alternate Realms" update later with more deep modding support and with more time
(During my projects class i learned that the more we get outside the scope, the more expensive the project gets and the harder the damage control gets)

so if Dusk has absolutely everything (besides the "Editor" folder if one is present) moved into a folder called "Resources" inside the normal Assets folder, then stuff can be loaded whenever

@thorn trout way to do it as in code-wise, or a way for the end-user to specify it?
Unity's UI seems locked in to whatever the current resolution is, so to my knowledge there's no way to apply effects (like pixelization) to it like a normal camera. I mean Unity doesn't even seem to allow for resolutions below 640x480, which is why I have to fake the low res instead of just letting players set the resolution as they like.
You could just render the camera to a texture, resize that texture and render that to the screen
then players could run at like 1920x1080, but have the "internal resolution" be independent
yeah I did that with a previous prototype, but the result is exactly the same as using an image effect
or rather, I rendered it to a rendertexture
in that case, image effect is the way to go for performance
yeah, I suppose in theory you could take a screencap every frame, resize it, and display it instead, but I can't imagine that would perform well
I personally feel that the hud resolution is a minor issue, so I'm just accepting it and moving forward with other stuff. I also am thinking about redoing the UI visuals at some point here, which will hopefully help a little
