the build that was public was actually quite old (much more than a month) and didn't actually have any gameplay. It was a tech demo to show the mechanics etc.
I took it down because it had a lot of stuff that has now been changed or removed, and some press sites were linking to it as if it were representative of the game and intended as a "vertical slice" demo. Which it wasn't. I didn't want people forming early judgements of Dusk based on a version that was far from ready to be judged.

the problem with a class/light rpg wad
is that it wouldnt be very compatible with maps not made for it
as demonstrated by me playing Scythe 2 after Doom 2's final episode with my prototype

Creators have more incentive to stream on twitch because let's be honest, people don't go to youtube expecting to spend money, and it isn't set up to tip creators as easily

So they have to leave the stream to donate through youtube

I guess the way you're SUPPOSED to do it is instead of placing prefabs around directly, you place a bunch of objects that spawn those prefabs, so when you load a game you just use saved data for that data. But in my case I do a bunch of per-instance changes in the editor, so I have to load the initial state THEN modify stuff based on the save file
I'm actually kind of proud of the tag system
Lets me do the saving/loading in a way you technically aren't supposed to be able to do

With lightmapping I think (again I know very little about any of this) it would depend on how Unity can import that stuff, because there is some functionality involving visual modes that needs to be able to turn lightmaps on/off
that should be doable
I guess since it's literally as simple as turning them on and off, it shouldn't be too hard to plan for imported stuff as well
oh, I also forgot to mention there's a tool being developed by the probuilder guys that will allow for pb functionality at runtime--i.e a level editor
that simplifies things greatly

Could probably make it easier to get to the exit room if you launch yourself slightly away from the wall, rather than against it, but I haven't tried that yet

Since DUSK has 30 maps, why not make 2 secret ones (similar to WOLFENSTEIN and GROSSE)
In one of those, you find a teleport that's awfully similar to another classic FPS
THen you get teleported to the game's specific E1M1 map
No need to copy the ENTIRE map with assets
Make the same layout, so the person goes and says "Hey! Its E1M1 from X FPS"

fun fact: the weird enemy in those early builds is actually an early version of the chainsaw enemy. Which is why the chainsaw enemy has a really weird name in the code
