What made me appreciate BCS was the universe that Breaking Bad built on its own. I don't particularly enjoy a lot of BCS stuff that isn't directly tied Breaking Bad and that's why I put Breaking Bad above it
Not that BCS was bad, it's one of my favorite shows of all time. I loved the eventual Chuck vs Jimmy confrontation in court and I was excited to see what happens to Kim and Jimmy at the end.
However, a big reason why myself and most people even cared so much about every single little detail in BCS was because of the intrigue and fandom Breaking Bad generated.

then it found its footing and climax when Jimmy was pulled into the mob world
but the ending was shit, the black and white episodes were shit in general
funny enough, the ending reminds me of dostoevskys crime and punishment, seems like gilligan took a lot of inspiration

Both shows fuck in my opinion, BB will always be my favorite show. The arc from beginning to end is legendary, and it’s no knock to BCS, but BB has stayed with me more often and for a lot longer. It’ll always have my heart

Breaking Bad is my favorite show because it had insane setup + payoff with no needless twist ending. BCS is great but it's too connected to BB to watch as a standalone and peaked in the middle since you already (kinda) know how it's gonna end.

An example of this is how Better Call Saul would just focus on such an insignificant point of view such as the view of a barn or an office or something. If it weren't for the anticipation of who or what could be in that scene because everyone watched Breaking Bad and anticipating how this will all time in, that scene would just be so dry and boring

i think the disconnect is that for a lot of viewers, things that BCS did, like various shots/scenes seem insignificant or random or not adding to the story, are in fact very intentional and hide deeper meaning/symbolism for the story (i can pull up youtube videos for these if anyone wants evidence)
BB did this also, but BCS did it even better imo
these things that aren't necessarily evident on a first viewing, but become clearer on rewatch
the depth of the show is staggering and beautiful for me, i genuinely savored individual scenes like tasty food
i think that BCS does depend on BB for the full enjoyment, but i dont think that makes it less as a show, in fact the ability to go back into a universe and tell an even better story is an incredible achievement, one which happens so rarely when you look at sequels...its even more impressive when you consider the insane success of BB
gould and gillian established their brilliance and credibility with BB (which was in danger of being cancelled in season 3), which allowed them to show more patience and breath more creatively with BCS
i think BCS is better b/c they became better at their craft over time and had more room to fully express their creativity
i think the premise for BB is an all timer that appeals to a larger audience base, and i think it was executed extremely well, enough so that i've rewatched the series ~3 times, but ultimately BCS takes the top spot for me, it was just more clever and more artistic with more emotional depth
