wouldn't have prob recommended the s based on performance even before hearing about starfield performance on console

Yup haha I’ve been sick so I had all the time I needed to spend some time on it

Initial thoughts:

• The game takes a long time to open up, the build up is a slow burn initially and you don’t realize how deep the mechanics can get until you’re like 10 hours in

• The writing for the main story is kind of standard, I start to really like it as it unfolds but side quests are where the game shines. Haven’t really played a Bethesda game with such a sheer amount of side quests, it’s really awesome and sometimes you don’t even realize that you stumble upon a 3 hour adventure that isn’t part of the main story

• I love the aesthetic, it’s really modern and sterile but it kind of has that futuristic feel, it’s like modern NASA posters brought to life. Seriously love walking in those corridors, the weapon designs are also amazing

• as I said before, there are some actual deep mechanics, for example right now I’m producing drugs and smuggling contraband all around the universe lol

• there’s some nice horror, I won’t tell much but ||there’s a creature that’s kind of framed as an apex predator that hunts humans and fuck that shit is scary||

So some of my criticisms

• I didn’t really expect this to be a full on space sim but there’s really some contrast between how the game wants to build up this mystery that encompasses the universe and how you’re actually traveling. Kind of a ludonarrative dissonance because you can’t actually fly seamlessly, the planets are a skybox and you can’t move towards them, whenever you fly to another celestial object you just grav jump and a cutscene plays

• Cutscenes feel a little bit excessive sometimes, but loading times were alright for me

• Ship combat is meh

• Menu UI isn’t the best, also no maps for the cities. It isn’t really needed most of the time but it sucks sometimes when I want to find a specific vendor
