#[Solved] Abnormally slow download speed

I'm trying to download Grid Autosport, and initially the download time displayed was about 4 hours. I docked the console, and when I picked it up and checked the download, it became about 12 hours. Confused, I tried cancelling the download and restarting it, only to find out that now it displays over 60 hours. I have hoped on YT and tried possible solutions such as changing the primary and secondary DNS, but to no avail. Are there any solutions to this?

EDIT: I have made sure that no other device is connected to the same wifi connection. Now it says 39 hours, which is still absurdly long for a 6 gig-ish download.

EDIT 2: I docked my switch again for a few minutes. Came back, checked, and it said 81 hours lol. I give up. Really need someone's help here.

SOLVED: Turns out the damned thing just needed muuuuch more time than usual to somehow "apply" (if that's even the right word) the normal download speed when downloading.

Context: I have downloaded Monster Hunter Generations, FE: Three Hopes Demo, Asphalt 9, etc., and their download was fine.

Abnormally slow download speed

The estimated time is just well off

#

its still 4ish hours

I see. I'll try leaving the switch alone for a while. I'll post an update here.

modern inlet
#

It happened with me.

It says 80 hours 37 minutes now, and obviously the download % is still at 0%. Is the download still fine as you mentioned if this is the case?

modern inlet
#

have you just opened it, checked it, then closed it?

#

closing it stops it checking.

light river
#

I see. Let me try opening it and giving it a couple of minutes.

#

it changes to 84 hours now.

#

Looks like the timer is correct since the minute decreases properly

modern inlet
#

huh

#

so it is a problem then

light river
#

Yeah. I tried testing the connection using switch. 34 Mbps download speed

#

which doesn't check out with the ETA i'm getting

modern inlet
#

34 megabits per second...

light river
#

wait is that good or bad?

#

I forgot the difference between Mb and MB, if I remember correctly that there's a difference between the two that is

modern inlet
#

b is bit

#

B is byte

Context here is that I downloaded FE: Three Hopes demo yesterday, which I left running overnight, and that was 7 gigs

#

and ofc there's no way a 6 gig download takes way longer than overnight

modern inlet
#

FE:TH took how long

light river
#

tbh I didn't really check it. Just left the download running on docked mode, and then fell asleep

#

that was around 10 pm. Woke up at 3 am and the download already finished.

modern inlet
#

so less than 15 hours... strange...

light river
#

Yeah. Just checked the Grid Autosport download again just now. Changed to 26 hours

#

this thing's really odd lol

modern inlet
#

its not bad. give it its time.

#

it'll do it... eventually.

light river
#

I hope so. I'll go set the sleep timer to never and let the device run for a few moments and see what comes up.

#

Though I wonder if the problem may be on the nintendo server's end

#

interesting; it's increasing again to 27hrs 22mins

modern inlet
#

oh yeah i forgot to tell, the switch is RUBBISH at estimating download time.

light river
#

oof yeah, I can tell now

#

I just hope the download ETA and % are actually mistaken, and that the game is actually downloading normally
