Your battery might be swollen.

You could tighten any screws, if it’s a result of damage to the shell you may just need to reshell it if you want to get rid of the gaps.

Not impossible, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it yourself if you’re not confident. The ribbon cables are very easy to tear
