#Grinding and buzzing noises

Sometimes when I boot up my Switch, the fan kicks in and at some point it begins making grinding noises. It doesn't happen very often. For an example: I was playing Pokemon Violet, I noticed my Switch's fan going pretty fast and being noisy, so I took it out from the dock and the fan began to be more noisy, ending up in making the buzzing/grinding noise

Also my Switch seems to overheat when in docked mode, or just makes the fan go very fast.

That calls for a repair, no?

I knew it.

#

Well, I could also request a battery change

#

And as with the joycons... I'll buy a new pair

solar tendon
#

why waste money on a new pair of joycons?

lost nest
#

Old ones are puffed up

solar tendon
#

time to replace the batteries inside of them

lost nest
#

And weared off

solar tendon
#

it'll be cheaper than replacing them outright

#

worn. there is no such word as "weared"

lost nest
#

right

#

I have this big bite on the stick

#

Never lending my console again

solar tendon
#

you can replace just that part if you want

lost nest
#

I don't want to spend more than I need honestly

solar tendon
#

it'll be cheaper to replace the batteries and the sticks than to buy an entirely new set of joycons

#

amazon has a two-pack of joycon batteries for $16

lost nest
#

I know that I can replace them by myself but honestly if someone is far more advanced than me I'd rather choose the latter

solar tendon
#

and you can get new joysticks, including the thumb grip and the electronic mechanism for $18

solar tendon
#

whatever you feel is best

lost nest
#

So for now I should not touch my Switch>

solar tendon
#

correct

lost nest
#

I mean it doesn't go wrrrryyyyy all the time

solar tendon
#

i'd get it fixed before risking damaging it permanently

lost nest
#

Dangit, I'll need to work for a month

solar tendon
#

it may pay to shop around and get quotes from local repair shops

lost nest
#

My town has no shops that repair consoles

solar tendon
#

well, local-ish

#

surely there has to be a major city nearby

lost nest
#

31 miles away

#

I can take a bus

solar tendon
#

or you could ship it

#

you don't have to schlep yourself there

lost nest
#

I don't have a credit card

#

Can't really make payments through the web

solar tendon
#

i see.

lost nest
#

Also why not visit a city as well?

solar tendon
#

sure, if you feel like doing so 🙂

lost nest
#

I wonder how long will it take

solar tendon
#

call and ask before you get there

#

they'll be able to tell you what their estimated repair time will be

lost nest
#

Right, thanks for helping me out

#

Kind of a shame since I picked up Pokemon Violet recently

solar tendon
#

it's always a pleasure

#

feel free to return to this thread if you have further questions

#

don't forget to ping me if you do so

lost nest
#

I think the battery needs to be changed as well

#

Since the left side of my Switch doesn't stick to the other plastic

#

There's an incline

#

Well then

lost nest
#

@solar tendon The incline is somewhere around here. It's not that big though

#

Honestly I just turned my console off, and packed it in its box

solar tendon
#

@lost nest incline? Can you post a photo?

lost nest
#

Something like this

solar tendon
#

I don’t see any “incline” in that picture.

lost nest
#

A gap

#

Aight hold on

solar tendon
#

Replace the battery if you like, but that is seriously not a large gap @lost nest

lost nest
#

Still it's kinda giving away red flags

#

ANyway thanks for help

solar tendon
lost nest
#

Kinda sucks it started to fail on me

#

Since I really wanted to play more Pokemon Violet

#

But I guess I shouldn't use my Switch?

my switch also has a gap near that area, but it's bigger this one
