is my progress in the gamecard or the switch?

so i borrowed breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom from a friend, i finished both of the games then gave back the gamecards. im planning on buying both of the games now myself. will my progress be there or will i lose everything unless i put the original game card belonging to my friend?

yes -- game save data is stored in the console, not on the game cartridge
