This issue has been going on for quite a while now starting sometime last year. Since then I've just been putting paper strips down to keep them connected but recently that has stopped working. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my joycons as they work connected to my friend's switch. I've seen some people say to put electrical tape in between the rails, some people say to clean the rails and others to repair the rails. What should I do?
#Joycons wobble a lot and disconnect frequently in handheld mode if at all

ah another one
I'm dealing with a similar issue where the joycons will just suddenly disconnect
it seems like screwing the screws to the joycon rail sort of fixes it
but not fully
I don't know the solution to your problem, and nor to my problem
but I can only say to repair it, or send it to a professional
quick update I added electrical tape and one side works perfectly other side not at all
maybe you should look into getting those rails repaied. all the shimming has probably deformed them slightly, causing loose connections
