If you’re getting Nintendo Online membership, get Mario Maker 2 for single player and Smash Bros Ultimate or Mario Kart 8 for multiplayer. If no online membership, then get Breath of the Wild for single player and Mario Wonder for multiplayer. If exclusives aren’t necessary, then get Slay The Spire for single player and Towerfall or Team Sonic Racing for local multiplayer
I agree with mario kart, but I got bored of maker pretty quickly. I recomend an RPG like zelda, pokemon, xenoblade or persona. You can put a lot of time into all of these games.
Thank you guys
I think I'm going to get Xenoblade or Zelda. I know I'm late to the Switch, but I still like the console.
Zelda have better gameplay, Xeno has better story than Switch Zelda
N64 Zelda story tops Xeno if you ask me
I am going to the store to see.
So far, Splatoon 3 and Zelda are on my list. I don't think Pokémon has multiplayer.
oh yeah keep Fire Emblem in mind
as a diehard turn based combat enthusiast, Fire Emblem combat is my favourite
Splatoon 3. I don't know if it has many people online, but it seems like a fun game to chill out with after work.
Splatoon 3 is an excellent choice. High skill ceiling and tight controls; enjoy!!
Community is v strong especially with the content updates and splatfest/big run events every month or two
One more dumb question because I can't find anything, so Splatoon 3 is the only popular online game on the Switch. I can't find any others that aren't Mario.
P much. Smash Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, Mario Party Superstars are the other big popular ones online. Fzero99 has a good amount of people online in the evening and weekends but that one is included in the online membership
If exclusives aren’t important, Fortnite runs well and has a No Build Mode now; I’ve had a good amount of wins with friends with us all playing on Switch
Not a huge fan of this game
Fair enough
After 20 min I gonna be in the store and seal my fate haha
Good luck. If you haven’t decided yet, go with the OLED model
And buy a screen protector and maybe a traveling case ASAP
^
screen protector is the priority
no matter what model you go with, the switch screen is plastic
it will scratch very easily
So, I need to get a few things for my new game console:
- A screen protector
- A case
- A memory card
Ye, that's about it
If you know you’ll buy a lot of digital games maybe bite the bullet and buy the 1TB micro sd card. Otherwise the 256 or 512 would probably do
for memory card, sweet spot is 256-512gb
yeah, quite the premium for 1tb right now
unless you're certain, stick with 512 max
Now the sd cards are on sale and is good
I know a bud who has like 5 256gb cards; id lose my mind swapping constantly and labeling where every game is located, but maybe some people would be fine
if you're gonna get that...
ye, maybe 1tb
most games aren't outrageously large
sub 5gb for the most part, most games I own are under 1-2gb
switch isn't like console (xbox/ps5) or pc, the games can be smaller due to the lower quality assets
I'm going to start with some simple exclusive games for now:
- Zelda
- Xenoblade or splatoon 3
- Maybe Pokémon (I've never played this game in my life).
If exclusives is all you’re gonna be getting And you’re going primarily physical, then 256 is probably what you want
value wise, price per gb is almost identical between 256 and 512
I’m more of “Switch is my main gaming device” so the 1TB fills up quite a bit
considering the low price difference, I'd recommend you go for 512
That seems to be the most popular choice for new owners
Well, yeah, Nintendo games are cool and relaxing. I'm not a hardcore gamer anymore, so I prefer something chill for nights with my wife.
do you have any other tech that uses micro sd in your house?
Nintendo wii but the SD card is old and a little one
The Wii games were soooo much smaller in comparison to the Switch games, it probably wouldn’t do for your Switch needs
Could any of you please advise if you have played Red Dead Redemption and if so, can you confirm whether it runs smoothly, unlike the PS3 version?
No idea. I would just watch a YT video on gameplay of the Switch version. Usually there’s one that 20-30 minutes long with no commentary
Ok
Thanks a lot! I got the console, a copy of Splatoon 3, and Zelda. I hope to meet some cool people online. Thanks again!
Haven't tried it but based on reviews:
- Performance is as good as on Ps4 if not even better
- Easily one of the best graphics on Switch
- Gameplay Wise it's a fun open world action adventure game by Rockstar Games, the same creators of GTA
- Battery life wise you get from 3 to up to 5 hours of gameplay
It's a pretty high rated game by the switch community and the reviews are promising
It's on my list too
omori
You need online nintendo switch membership in order to play wonder online.
That’s true but I’m referring to playing locally; The online co-op is completely different than local co-op
I played two matches of Splatoon 3 tonight. It was a lot of fun! I'm going to play more later. I'm so glad I got this console.
@desert linden Get zelda breath of the wild or tears on the kingdom and rocket league (free)
I bought Tears of the Kingdom. I just hope there isn’t a huge gap between stories.
Cool so far. I am looking at the games and the console itself. It's very cool and good; zero regrets. I'm thinking of trying out The Settlers: New Allies and more to come. 🙂 A huge thanks, guys, for the help.
Do you have NSO?
Hey sorry for the late intrusion
But some simple exclusives that are great have definitely gotta be Kirby and Mario games
there are former exclusives like monster hunter rise with sunbreak that I enjoyed a lot with my friends, it’s a hard game but it’s actually pretty chill once you get used to the controls and know how to play the game
Since you mentioned pokemon, BDSP, Legends Arceus, and Lets Go Eevee/Pikachu is also really good
It's never late I am currently still new and open for recommendations the console it's neat level in splatoon fights in zelda and I got a rabbits and mario something like that for my sister strategy combat fun game
Ooh you should get her Persona 5 Tactica though it is not an exclusive, it’s an awesome game
Honestly a screen protecter isn't really needed unless your very clumsy
I had to try to crack the screen
understandable if you don't want scratches though
You can never be too safe
I had to slam my switch on concrete to get a slight crack lol
Just my personal experience I'm sure it can happen normally
Strong disagree. Glass screen protector is nothing but a good thing, as long as you get it on cleanly
was with a friend outdoors once and HE knocked my switch screen first onto the rocks. The glass protector totally shattered, but the screen beneath was pristine.
