#Can I purchase games before my switch arrives?

Hi folks, I'm excited to have a switch coming soon, and there's a game on sale that I'd like to buy... but the sale price ends before I'll receive the switch. Can I create a switch account online, buy the game, then add that account to my console when it arrives?

And bonus complication: I ordered the MAR10 switch that comes with a Mario game voucher. Will that complicate anything, or am I safe to create an account and purchase the game on sale, add the account to the switch and claim the Mario game voucher? If there's a better place to ask this question, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks for any feedback!

Yeah just do it through the eshop and use your eshop account

IIRC you can't buy games without having your account linked to a Switch console.

#

Test it out though, my memory on that is hazy.

#

Also, you can just ask someone to let you login into their Switch temporarily to enable purchasing.

Thank you both. I'll see what happens! And @empty yarrow if I'm able to buy the game without linking to a console, do you think I'd be safe to link it once the switch arrives, or does a new console want to be linked to a new account?

You can just sign in at that point

So there's this feature called game-sharing, its most important purpose is to set a limit on how you can use one account to play games you own on multiple different Switch console.

#

It works on a Primary-console, secondary-console basis

#

Primary console has all the rights to play without any limit, and secondary has some limit.

#

The very first console you login into will be treat as the Primary by default.

#

All consoles you login with your account after that will be treat as secondary.

#

You can change this status easily if you have physical access to the consoles in question.

#

A remote deregister feature is also available but limit to once per year.

#

So if you are planning to link your account to a console just to buy games now

#

Then you need to remember to change the primary console status to your actual console later
