#MicroSD card not working after resetting switch
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The Switch has this weird feature of well,... using one single microSD card for each console.
It will not let you use the same card on multiple Switch console
the first time you use a card on a console, it will format that card and sorta "register" that card to that console
If you wipe the console, however, it will also reset this. So your card now become a "stranger" to this console.
You can still recover this but it's annoying to do. May I ask if you still want to recover the video/screenshot on this card?
Of course, the save data is stored on the Switch's internal memory
Hmm but it's strange
normally you can reuse the card after formatting it with the Switch
I guess you need to properly format it with a PC instead
follow the instructions below
MICROSD CARD FORMAT AND TEST
§ To fix Error Code: 2016-0641, data corruption issue. For fixing microSD card not recognized, broken microSD card reader please use tag sdr
※ Note: microSD card only stores screenshots/video capture and games' install data. Save data is stored on the internal memory of the Switch.
■ How to properly format a microSD card to use on Switch console:
You will need a PC computer and a microSD card reader.
1. Use this software, SD Association's SD Memory Card Formatter, and format the microSD card using Overwrite option.
2. Format your microSD card again using your computer's Quick format feature. exFAT and FAT32 filesystem is preferred.
3. Put the microSD card into your Switch console and use the built-in function to format the card one more time.
