MICROSD CARD RECOMMENDATIONS

Official microSD Card F.A.Q from Nintendo
TL;DR: You should get a microSDXC UHS-I microSD card. UHS-II or higher won't give you any better performance.

• Recommended microSD cards:
Nintendo official licensed SanDisk 64/128/256GB MicroSDXC - $16.32/$24.80/$52.99
※ Note: These products simply follow specifications from Nintendo to ensure they are compatible with the Switch, but they do not offer better performance.
Samsung Evo Select 64/128/256/512GB - $11.99/$19.99/$34.99/$84.88
(Samsung Evo Plus is the same product outside of North America market)
Sandisk Ultra microSDXC 64/128/256/512GB - $11.99/$18.71/$34.99/$90.14
Silicon Power microSD 256GB - $28.99
(UK) Integral 256GB Microsdxc - £32.46

• Which microSD card size should I choose?

・ Will you buy more physical or digital games?
・ The base Switch and Switch Lite have 32GB of internal memory, while the OLED has 64GB.
・ Check install data size of games you want to play.
・ Firmware update, Save data, screenshots, video recordings and DLCs can take up storage space as well.

MICROSD CARD FORMAT AND TEST

§ To fix Error Code: 2016-0641, data corruption issue. For fixing microSD card not recognized, broken microSD card reader please use tag sdr

※ Note: microSD card only stores screenshots/video capture and games' install data. Save data is stored on the internal memory of the Switch.

■ How to properly format a microSD card to use on Switch console:
○ You will need a PC computer and a microSD card reader.
1. Use this software, SD Association's SD Memory Card Formatter, and format the microSD card using Overwrite option.
2. Format your microSD card again using your computer's formatting feature. exFAT and FAT32 filesystem is preferred.
3. Put the microSD card into your Switch console and use the built-in function to format the card one more time.

○ Source: Nintendo Official Recommendation

■ If you suspect your microSD card is broken or fake/counterfeit, you can test using these software:
・ Windows: H2Test (Read/Write speed test)
・ Mac: Black Magic Disk Speed Test or F3XSwift

spring briar
#

try transfering a software to the sd card

#

if that dont work as well

spring briar
#

then it a fake sd

fossil nebula
# past flax

At the bottom of that embed has tools for both Windows and Mac for checking that the card isn't counterfeit.

#

But yeah

thorn summit
#

Normally you will use a micro to regular sd adapter

spring briar
#

@spring briar try transfering another software to the sd card

#

if that works

#

then it might be xenoblade

#

if it dont

#

then prolly the sd card

#

a software with around the same size

#

I don’t know if I have a software the size of Xenoblade digitally

fossil nebula
#

That card honestly looks counterfeit. That can lie about their size to devices and actually be much smaller than they actually are. So, after a certain amount of space, you "run out" of legitimate space and it starts destroying data on the card.

#

jus a trusted brand yk

#

u dont need the nintendo licenced ones tho, those overpriced nd jus normal sandisk cards

thorn summit
#

Walking into a physical store like bestbuy etc is best. Amazon stock is sometimes mixed and can be fake too even if it's the "brand" name

#

It's sadly kinda an issue

rain pasture
#

yeah

viscid locust
#

Anyways, a new SD card might solve the problem

#

I don't agree with the licenses thing reaction, but whatever

thorn summit
#

The licensed cards are the exact same of sandisks other micros that was class 10 but will nintendo branding.

fossil nebula
#

He's correct

spring briar
#

jus get a normal sandisk or samsung microsd card from bestbuy

#

those always work well

fossil nebula
#

They're just regular SanDisk cards

#

With Nintendo branding

thorn summit
#

They are the same cards

fossil nebula
#

No difference.

viscid locust

Sorry, no time for arguments, this is going bad already

thorn summit

I think the nintendo brand ones can be cheaper since they are subsidized, but thats the real only benefit
