I've been having some weird audio issues lately with my switch. For some reason when I'm playing games, often times the music will cut out while sound effects continue to play. Another example is in Xenoblade 3 where whenever I play the offseer flute, the sound effect plays in chunks separated by silence. What can I do to fix this?

Eh does it happen with the Switch's speakers as well?
I don't use my switch speakers so I don't know, all my play is through headphones
it's also worth noting this happened after a prolonged period of not using my switch
Test the speakers for me if you can
also test it on the TV's speakers through dock mode
Does your monitor has a 3.5mm audio port on the back?
It doesn't
Alright I guess we have to skip that test
Just do the Switch's internal speakers for now
Damn, that's bad
You have to send it into repair.
It's not the speakers, it's the audio decoder chip
But let's leave that for the technician to diagnose

HARDWARE REPAIR INFORMATION

[👉 Nintendo Repair Service](#986637761916317707 message)
Nintendo offers their own repair service for free within warranty period and with cost when warranty has expired. Joycon's repair are often free, regardless of warranty. Their service is often more reliable, with original replacement parts, but is more expensive.
[👉 Independent Repair Service](#986637761916317707 message)
A local, independent repair service may offer faster return time, cheaper and doesn't need warranty nor official support. Although finding a good local repair service needs some effort.
[👉 DIY Repair](#986637761916317707 message)
Requires skills, tools and experience, but DIY repair is always an option.
What could have caused it? I've barely used it over the past months
I've had the switch since launch
There are quite a lot of reasons. Sometime it can just be thermal expansion on the soldering points.
Strangely enough, I have seen way more hardware issue on inactive Switch than active Switch.
Maybe it's just a coincidence.
so is UbreakIfix reliable? I really want to play xenoblade 3 so I'd like not to send it to nintendo if possible
Haha tbh with you I don't think it's 100%
They are a chain store service
So each of those store has a different manager, different experience, etc..
I have heard both good and bad coming from that brand
mhm, guess it's just a gamble I'll have to take
The repair legion verified stores maybe more reliable
I've been mingling with some repair communities, it seems the most knowledgeable ones are often the smaller single person store
They are like enthusiast full time, half time repair service. And damn those guys are good.
If you can tell me your general location, I may ask around for you.
Wait wait
Dude, don't give your full location details lol
I got it, let me ask around, not sure though
But if you want, check that UbreakiFix's reviews
and look around on your own, maybe there's a service that's tied to a gaming store nearby
so ask the store's owner
mhm mhm
I'll try it for now and see if it works
if it doesn't I'll look into others
Good luck then, I'll let you know if I find anyone willing to take it.
thanks, I appreciate it
maybe I was hallucinating because the issue seems to have stopped itself...
I see, that's great then. Keep monitoring it though, it might come back.
Yeah, shortly after a different issue popped up that might or might not be related so I’m just going to get it checked out anyway lol
What sort of issue though?
It’s a weird crackling sound in the background, but idk if that’s a switch thing or totally unrelated
Nah, it happened while wearing headphones
